The Scottish Chambers of Commerce has appointed industry leading manufacturing chief, Rodney Ayre, as its new President. Rodney heads up production at Mitsubishi Electric’s six sites in West Lothian. Rodney said “I am honoured to have been asked to take up the position at such a critical time for Scottish businesses and I hope my extensive production expertise and international experience will provide valuable insight and guidance as we strive to create a stronger manufacturing base and encourage increased investment into Scotland. “I look forward to working with the Scottish and UK governments to support investment in innovation, renewable products and our industrial base.” SCC Chief Executive Dr Liz Cameron CBE said: “Rodney brings a wealth of experience, strong leadership skills with a deep knowledge of the challenges but also the massive opportunities that lie ahead. Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (TOKYO: 6503) announced today the upcoming launch of a new MelDIR-brand 80×60-pixel thermal-diode infrared sensor (MIR8060C1) with a 100°×73° field of view, more than double that of the company's existing thermal-diode infrared sensors, to accurately and efficiently identify people and objects. The expanded field of view will reduce the number of sensors required to effectively monitor large areas, contributing to the safety, security and convenience of solutions for monitoring elderly care facilities and building air-conditioning systems, counting people, and measuring body temperatures. 【NRW Minister of Economic Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister visits SUSTIE facility to observe ZEB-related technologies】 Minister Mona Neubaur and a delegation from the State of North Rhine-Westphalia visited Mitsubishi Electric's Information Technology R&D Center in Kamakura city (Kanagawa Prefecture), Japan on October 17th to observe energy-saving building management technologies in the demonstration and test facility "SUSTIE®" which was completed in 2020.   NRW is responsible for generating one-fifth of Germany's total energy and has strength in energy-related industries, making it one of the largest economic regions in the country. Mitsubishi Electric has a German branch of its wholly owned subsidiary, Mitsubishi Electric Europe B.V. (headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands), in the state and has been conducting business in Germany for over 40 years. Four high school students from Düsseldorf, Germany, came to Japan and visited Mitsubishi Electric's exhibition space and gallery “METoA Ginza” and “Shizuoka Works”✨ As part of its contribution to the local community, the German branch of Mitsubishi Electric Europe holds a business competition (Changes Award) for local high school students, with the winning team receiving a trip to Japan.  The high school students who won the sustainability-themed competition gave a presentation at Mitsubishi Electric's headquarters, visited METoA Ginza to enjoy the “Manga x AI” exhibition, and then went to the Shizuoka Works to see the process of manufacturing air conditioning products with great interest. #MitsubishiElectric #ChangesfortheBetter #METoAGinza #ChangesAward
