To remind everyone of the work we do here at Merlin Insurance Brokers, here are some recent ‘wins’ for our clients.   Property Administration / Properties in Probate A Property administration business arranging the property insurance for a changing portfolio of over 200 unoccupied properties in various conditions. We created a flexible scheme that offers ‘Gold, Silver and Bronze’ cover depending on the condition of each property, managed on a monthly declaration to ease administration with minimal security requirements. Large Residential Property Insurance Previously cladded residential building with poor fire safety rating & combustible materials. The property underwent a cladding remediation programme however the premiums being charged didn’t reflect the change in risk in profile. We worked with the property manager to obtain a more competitive and ‘fit for purpose’ insurance program that acknowledged the improvements in fire safety and risk management by the insured. This resulted in a 20% saving for the insured (£70k) last year & a further 20% saving to the premium this renewal with no reductions in cover or exclusions. Distressed Works Insurance The joint venture partner (Developer) of a new build, £9.5m GDV project building two blocks of flats approached us with an urgent requirement after the main contractor entered administration. The main contractor was responsible for insuring the works until this point which had reached 50% completion. The ‘existing structure’ and future works required cover on an all-risks basis which we secured within 48 hours at a competitive rate.

Ask yourself a question.   What would I do in the event of a cyber attack? What would be the cost to my business if we lost access to our systems and our data was deleted? Can I afford to not protect myself against these existential risks?   When setting up Merlin Insurance Brokers I identified one of the largest threats to my business is a cyber crime incident – how would we respond to a cyber event, and could we afford to? So, one of the first actions I took was purchasing a cyber insurance policy. According to the UK Government, Half of businesses (50%) report having experienced some form of cyber security breach or attack in the last 12 months.
