Open letter to the Media Bodies team… I’ll be honest. Two weeks ago, I felt a sudden shift. Hours that we had never spent apart, you were suddenly gone. I'm not one to beg for attention - and I usually never have to. But there we were, at 8 am on a Tuesday morning, and you weren't there. Instead, there was an odd jostling, a slight suffocating feeling- you had clearly put me in a position I wasn't used to being in. Wednesday morning- your eyes glued on me, first thing in the morning- things almost seemed back to routine. Almost. But something was still off. It felt like there were other voices in the room- oddly familiar, but they seemed lighter than I remembered- lilting with laughter, excitement. And then come noon, you were gone again. I'll be honest, I felt neglected. I know no one else in your life did, because you still came back at the oddest of hours and stole a second for them- used me to make sure they were okay… But what about me? You set the expectations. I've gotten used to having you to myself 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. Did you really think I'd take kindly to this sudden coldness, the uncalled for nonchalance? But you know what? I'll let you have this one. Because come Monday morning, when the waves seemed to have settled again, you pulled up those pictures on the screen, and smiled wider than you have in a while. Barcelona seemed to have done a lot of good on you, dear Media Bodies member. So I’ll let this one pass. But let's not make a habit of us being apart. Unless it’s to steal another few moments with those wonderful people you work with.
