Update - Campaign for a Manufacturing Champion! Hubby and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the UK House of Lords last Thursday and would like to extend our thanks to Jason Pitt, Ilona Pitt, the Made in Yorkshire and Made in the Midlands Teams, and all those supporting the Backing Britain Campaign for a really well attended and perfectly executed event! However, the 20 minute notice I was given to speak to a room of 120+ professionals was a tad challenging but I’m told the feedback was entirely positive and thankfully, the ever so patient Wayne Wilson no longer thinks I need to “stop killing myself with the campaign” as the support and comments he heard about the value of what I’m doing, and how much it is appreciated, really inspired him – particularly the wonderful Philip Stanley and his lovely wife, thanks guys! We had a wonderful time meeting so many passionate manufacturers and, in some cases, finally putting real faces to the LinkedIn profiles and commentators after many a year of conversing electronically! Thank you everyone who gave me really kind feedback and thank you to all who have promised to do more to shout about UK Manufacturing! As I keep saying, our voice is getting louder, and the message is being heard. We were even mentioned at Number 5 in the Top 10 Manufacturing Digital Predictions for 2026 which said: "Governmental roles for manufacturing will increase. By 2026, there will be a greater number of official governmental roles across the UK, US, and Europe to advocate for manufacturing. "In the UK we’ve seen the successful and popular campaign for an official Minister of Manufacturing, while in the US we’ve seen the rise of manufacturing leaders for US states like Paul S. Lavoie in Connecticut. This increase will be driven by reindustrialisation and manufacturing campaigns like “I’ve Got it Made” led by Paul. Thank you Paul S. Lavoie for tagging me and keeping me informed, as well as all your work to promote manufacturing, both in here in the UK and of course, the US. The more we all sing from the same song sheet, and stay united in our goals, the more chance we have of achieving our ultimate aim – a truly passionate professional to hear us, speak for us, and represent us within Government. As I said in my speech on Thursday, it’s time the SME voice was heard. It’s time we were given the opportunity to say what we need to thrive. And it’s time those needs were heard, supported, promoted, and delivered upon - by our Trade Associations, Membership bodies, and Government. Together, we can do this. Together, we can achieve more. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲. 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲. 𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗘 shout loud and spread the word that we deserve effective, strategic representation in Government. #shoutaboutukmfg – positive news #supportukmfg – promoting engineering & manufacturing #ukmanufacturing – promoting our industry #ministerformanufacturing - posts relating to this campaign
