Congratulations to Leeds City College Games Development alumni, Bryony Larson, who recently won BTEC Learner of the Year at the TIGA UK Games Education Awards. The awards celebrate outstanding student talent in the video gaming industry. Bryony’s journey showcases the power of technical education in unlocking creative potential. Now studying at the University of Staffordshire, Bryony credits the extracurricular activities she had access to outside of the classroom, plus the dedicated support from her tutors, for inspiring her to apply. She said: “To enter the competition, I needed to submit a video showreel demonstrating my best work from college. I decided to submit projects demonstrating the various skills I learnt, such as 3D modelling, level design, narrative writing and programming. “That said, there were times during my course when I suffered from imposter syndrome, especially as the nature of programming means you face challenges that can take days or weeks to solve. “My course leader, Peter, helped me stay resilient when my confidence and motivation was at rock bottom. I’m now determined to be a games programmer one day”. Read it here: https://bit.ly/4eNOPDO
