Earlier this month, our Chief Strategy Officer, Lucie Risley, had the honour of attending, judging and presenting at the SME National Business Awards at Wembley Stadium. 🥇Representing the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lucie presented the Gold Award for Corporate Social Responsibility. Congratulations to ASL Group, a fantastic company that has demonstrated a commitment to changing for the better. It was incredible to see finalists and winners from our own London regional awards back in February be shortlisted for these national awards. We're delighted to announce that a proud participant of our Community Network, Maximeyes UK Ltd, who took home the Gold Award earlier this year for London's High Growth Business of the Year, not only won gold again in this national category but also went on to win Overall Winner of the SME National Business Awards! A well-deserved achievement🏆 We're so excited to host once again the London SME Business Awards in February 2025, where the winners of our 22 categories will be crowned👑

Skilled employees are at the heart of the capital’s economy. Attracting and retaining people with the right skills is critical for business growth and productivity. LCCI has a history of supporting skills development for London’s businesses through advocacy, business support schemes and our London, Fostering Skills, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Committee📈 The committee, chaired by Anthony Impey MBE, Chief Executive Officer, Be the Business, contributes to and informs LCCI’s policies, supports the Chamber in representing key challenges and opportunities, and shares best practices across these critical themes, striving to create an environment for innovative businesses to share their expertise for cross-sector learning. Today, LCCI and Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce submitted an Open Letter on behalf of 139 businesses addressed to both the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Secretary of State for Business and Trade calling for the approval of the Development Consent Order to expand London Luton Airport. The letter, which can be read in full on our website, endorses London Luton Airport’s expansion proposals, which will deliver significant economic benefits to England and the South East and support the Government’s ambitions for national renewal in areas including job creation, sustainable aviation and addressing deprivation across the UK. The proposals would contribute around £1.3 billion in additional GDP across the three counties of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire and £1.5 billion nationally. We urge the Chancellor and Business Secretary to consider the economic impact the DCO could have, as well as the strong support from the national and local business communities in their decision making. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e4HVZAFf

Helping to safeguard your company and employees against business crime is crucial. In October last year, a survey of 510 businesses by LCCI found that 20% of SMEs and 19% of larger companies are impacted by business crime🔐 To address the challenges that crime poses, LCCI has formed a Business Crime Committee, focusing on various types of business crime, including cyber security, fraud, policing issues and supply chain vulnerabilities. The primary objective of the Business Crime Committee is to help London’s business community become more resilient to crime, while ensuring that private and public sector stakeholders take action to tackle business crime across the capital. The committee is chaired by Claire Holford, Dispute Resolution and Defence and Security Partner at top-60 law firm Harrison Clark Rickerbys and comprises members with experience and expertise in a variety of related disciplines. We also have a dedicated hub on our website with resources and articles to help you prevent, mitigate, respond to and report crime, as well as a dedicated events programme.
