What are the treatments available for multiple sclerosis? #MultipleSclerosis is a disease where the immune cells attack the nervous system. Symptoms of MS vary from numbness and tingling to limb weakness, visual disturbances, pain and fatigue. AHSCT can offer life changing and transformational results for people with MS. The treatment aims to ‘reboot’ the immune system, to stop it attacking itself and repair any existing damage. Join our webinar on 21st November to hear our consultants answer the most frequently asked questions about AHSCT and how it is transforming the lives of patients. Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. A mission that drives our dedication to improving the lives of people with cancer, through clinical research, innovative new treatments and personalised medicine. Since 2010 our team at The Sarah Cannon Research Institute, located on Harley Street, have run hundreds of clinical research studies, helping patients to access potential new treatments and therapies, through phase 1-3 clinical trials. 📣 We’re incredibly proud to now extend access to clinical research through our expert cancer treatment centre at London Bridge Hospital where we are running studies focusing on blood cancer. “As principal investigator it has been a pleasure to work alongside our Sarah Cannon team, and the team here at London Bridge Hospital, on these exciting studies. It’s a real privilege to see patients responding to these new treatment approaches.” – Dr Mary Gleeson, Principal Investigator & Consultant Haematologist Find out more about clinical trials at HCA UK here: https://lnkd.in/eaVVVSG5 #HCAHealthcareUK #HCAUK #ClinicalTrials #SCRI #LondonBridgeHospital

October is Black History Month, and this year’s theme 'Reclaiming Narratives’ is a powerful reminder of the importance of correcting historical inaccuracies, uplifting untold success stories, and embracing the full richness of Black history and culture. We asked some of our colleagues to share their own personal narratives: Why is it important to celebrate Black History Month? What does it mean to them, and why is it crucial for HCA UK to recognise Black history? Stay tuned throughout October for in-depth interviews and personal stories shared by three of our colleagues featured in the film. #BlackHistoryMonth #ReclaimingNarratives #HCAUK #HCAHealthcareUK #DiversityAndInclusion #BlackVoices

Across HCA Healthcare UK, we bring together teams of experts in multiple specialties to care for patients with even the most complex conditions. Experts like Mr Ahmad Sayasneh, who led a team of surgeons at London Bridge Hospital to perform groundbreaking surgery for a patient with advanced ovarian cancer. Mrs Davies' cancer had spread close to her heart and the blood supply to her stomach. Following a Multidisciplinary Team Meeting, it was agreed that removing the cancer surgically, followed by chemotherapy, would be the best treatment option. But given her advanced diagnosis, surgery would be challenging. Mr Sayasneh sought the expertise of his colleagues Mr Abrie Botha, upper gastrointestinal surgeon, and Mrs Karen Harrison-Phipps, a thoracic surgeon, to work as a team. Uniting their skills, they successfully removed all her visible cancer in a single, minimally invasive operation, significantly reducing Mrs Davies' recovery time and enabling her to begin her chemotherapy without delay. On the 12th July, Mr Sayasneh shared the team’s innovative approach at the British Gynaecological Cancer Society's Annual Scientific Meeting, highlighting the impact of surgical collaboration and advanced medical techniques in improving patient outcomes. Thank you for joining us Seema Kennedy OBE!
A brilliant visit to IHPN member HCA Healthcare UK’s London Bridge Hospital this morning with our Chair Seema Kennedy OBE. Janene Madden and John Reay guided us around their impressive facilities which deliver a range of healthcare services including cancer care, cardiology, diagnostics, GP and outpatient & diagnostics services, and which is rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. The hospital also has a 24-hour Critical Care Unit which provides specialised care to seriously ill patients with a variety of medical or surgical conditions. It was also fantastic to hear about how they work hand in hand with their neighbours Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, with a real focus on Multidisciplinary Team Working (MDT) - highlighted in IHPN’s report last week: https://lnkd.in/ekuTbfaj Meeting just some of the nurses at the hospital, it was clear the real emphasis there is on staff progression, and was wonderful to hear about their ongoing work with Talent Beyond Boundaries to help refugee and displaced healthcare professionals rebuild their lives and put their skills to use.
