We’ve had an amazing few days learning the art of lime rendering! Huge thanks to Best of Lime Ltd and the incredibly talented James Collier for sharing their expert knowledge – from mixing and applying the lime to the all-important task of protecting it from the elements. A massive shoutout to our brilliant volunteers who turned this into such a fun and productive event. Your hard work and energy got the scratch coat on the outside, and the roundhouse is looking even more fantastic because of you! Thank you to Wickes in Thetford's Community Programme for kindly supply the tools to get the job done! Before we can move on to the next stage of this beautiful project, we have another coat to go on the outside and two on the inside! Roundhouse build milestone #5: We have a roof! The roof structure of our strawbale roundhouse is now on, and it’s truly a thing of beauty! This incredible progress wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing craftmanship of the guys from 'Heaven Sculpture yard' and 'Woodland to Workshop'. The continued support from our community, Forest Heath Fasteners Ltd and Woollards of Mildenhall is gratefully received. You’re helping us create a space where children can come together, feel safe, and take part in a variety of wellbeing activities. Roundhouse Build Milestone #4: We have walls! Hey teacher! Not just another brick in the wall, but a whole load of straw bales, each one unique in its own way! Our off-grid straw bale roundhouse is starting to take shape and can really see what a wonderful space it will be for the young people for who access our Alternative Provision. We are so thankful for the donation of straw bales from Quality Equipment - G.E. Baker (UK) Ltd as without these there would be no walls! And to Maximum Vision for the windows, so we can see the lovely view! It was amazing how quickly the walls went up, thanks to the skillful team from 'Heaven Sculpture Yard' and 'Woodland to Workshop'. We have finally reached the day we have been waiting for! It's time to build the walls of our straw bale round house! But before we share this next milestone we need to cast our minds back to the end of August..... Over two sunny evenings, following the harvest, straw bales were gifted and delivered courtesy of Quality Equipment - G.E. Baker (UK) Ltd of Woolpit and safely stored under cover on pallets from Paul's Pallets of Risby. We’re so grateful to both companies and the helpers who came to offload them. Without your support we couldn't have got started! This off-grid eco-friendly space will be a special place to welcome children and young people accessing our alternative provision. We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a grant by the East of England Co-op's Community Cares Fund through Suffolk Community Foundation! 🙌 We are incredibly grateful for their generous support allowing us to run subsidised Limitless Futures Wild Heart sessions! These nature-based creative sessions, at our site near Bury St Edmunds, are specifically aimed at reducing isolation for anxious children. - Helping them to thrive both socially and emotionally. 💚 We look forward to sharing more details and dates soon. Roundhouse Build Milestone #2: The Timber Base is Complete! We’re one step closer to bringing our strawbale roundhouse dream to life! The timber base has been built, thanks to the incredible craftmanship of Neil @nrgwoodworking and Giles @woodlandtoworkshop. This foundation will soon support a space where children can come to relax, reset, connect, and grow. We’ve officially started building our strawbale roundhouse – all thanks to the incredible generosity of our local community! Our vision is to create an off grid eco-friendly space, that will be a special place, to welcome children and young people accessing our alternative provision. It will be somewhere warm and inviting to cosy down, after adventures in the woodlands and gardens, and take part in a range of wellbeing activities. Groundworks have taken place and we have a perfectly level site on which we can now build. Today we look at Empathy, the last element of PACE. Empathy creates an environment where young people feel safe, valued, and free to be themselves. It sits at the heart of Limitless Futures CIC provision because it: - Builds Trust: When we listen with empathy, we show young people that their feelings and experiences matter. This builds trust, forming the foundation of strong, supportive relationships. - Promotes Emotional Safety: Empathy helps create a space where every child feels understood and accepted, allowing them to express themselves without fear of judgment, knowing we are with them every step of their journey. - Fosters Connection: Empathy deepens our connections, creating a sense of belonging that encourages young people to fully engage in learning and life. Today we are looking at Curiosity, the third element of the PACE approach. Curiosity can be one of the most powerful tools the Wellbeing Support Practitioners at Limitless Futures use to build meaningful relationships. It’s not just about asking questions – it’s about showing genuine interest in our participants world, thoughts, and experiences. When we approach conversations with open minds and hearts, young people feel seen, valued, and understood. - It encourages trust and open dialogue. - It shows that you care about their unique perspectives. - It empowers them to share more about what's important to them. By leading with curiosity, we are modelling this for the young people we support which in turn encourages them to explore what intrinsically motivates them. Today we are looking at Acceptance, the second element of the PACE approach. Acceptance is fundamental to the young people we support feeling a sense of belonging at Limitless Futures and the foundation from which they can flourish, because it: - Creates a Safe Space: When young people feel accepted for who they are, they are more comfortable expressing themselves, asking questions, and trying new activities. - Embraces Neurodiversity: Every brain works differently! Acceptance removes barriers and honours each individual just as they are, reducing the need for masking or fear of judgement. - Enhances Wellbeing: Feeling accepted is a basic psychological need. By ensuring young people feel valued, supported and validated, it can create a positive impact in other areas of their lives.
