In the Press 🗞 We were excited to partner with this year’s Smart Buildings Show, an event that aligns with our commitment to shaping the future of smart, sustainable built environments 🌱 The rapid evolution of technology, coupled with growing demands for sustainability and wellbeing in the workplace, means lighting systems must do more than just illuminate – they must enhance the functionality and efficiency of entire buildings. This partnership provides a platform to highlight the crucial role human-centric lighting (HCL) and advanced controls play in today’s smart buildings, and how our members are leading these innovations.💡 Ayça Donaghy Dr Shelley James - The Light Lady Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gebDSisD #SmartBuildingsShow #LightingIndustry #Training #Safety #SustainableBuildings

Navigating the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) 🔍 The use of certain hazardous substances - like lead and mercury - in electrical products is strictly regulated in both the UK and EU. Products must adhere to prescribed trace levels unless specific exemptions apply. This is essential for anyone in the lighting and electronics sectors, as non-compliance can lead to costly setbacks, product recalls and even sanctions. ⚠️ ✅ UK - The Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2012 UK SI 2012 No. 3032 ✅ EU - Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2011/65/EU + 2015/863 Testing for restricted substances can be expensive, so obtaining conformity information from suppliers is usually the preferred route. However, upcycled and repurposed products add complexity, as they may have been produced before RoHS regulations took effect or were intended for non-RoHS applications. 📄 Want to ensure compliance with RoHS and more? Our Introduction to Technical Files course will guide you through the processes needed to demonstrate conformity, protect your brand, and stay competitive: https://lnkd.in/eXqVtEHQ #RoHS #Compliance #LightingIndustry #TechnicalFiles #Sustainability #LIA #ElectricalSafety

And that's a wrap! 🎉 The TC34 plenary meeting has now been completed, agreeing and planning the work for the TC34 for the next 2 years. Several convenors were re-confirmed for a further 3-year period and new appointments of project leaders were confirmed 💡 The only task left is the AG1 advisory group who will set the schedule of the IEC face-to-face meetings for the next couple of years to allow National Committees and National Experts time to plan their travel. Overall, the meetings have been very useful and a lot of progress has been made. On top of that we also had clarification during the meetings that Edition 10 of IEC60598-1 was published! We now eagerly await the EN and BS EN versions! Well done to Stuart Burns and Caroline Johnson for their hard work and input over the last few weeks 💙 Look out for the LIA members only IEC Status report upon our return to the UK for more details of the work that has been done - https://lnkd.in/e8ecSe2z #Luminaires #LuminaireBible #LightingIndustry #Committee #IEC
