Legal Services
We are a collaborative learning forum of lawyers who organise monthly knowledge sessions on pressing global issues.
About us
Legal Voices for the Future is a collaborative learning forum established by junior practitioners from different fields of law, whose objective is to give voice to a new generation of lawyers. It proposes to do so by holding monthly knowledge sessions open to everyone - lawyers and non-lawyers alike. In order to bring fresh perspective, innovation and determination to pressing global issues such as climate change, each session is organised and led by a different member of Legal Voices for the Future. Legal Voices for the Future is an inclusive and safe space offering the opportunity for collaboration and collective learning without professing expertise. Anyone can join our open forum knowledge sessions to informally and creatively share knowledge. We wish to empower members of Legal Voices for the Future to use the law as a force for positive change and facilitate the forging of connections for collaboration on solutions to climate change and other societal injustices. We also recognise the importance of cross-sector collaboration, and encourage our members and friends of Legal Voices for the Future to engage in discussions and develop valuable relationships beyond law. 🌱 LIMITED SPACES REMAINING - Knowledge Session at Wakelyns Farm 🌱 Thank you to everyone who's already expressed interest in attending LVF's unique knowledge session at Wakelyns Farm (an organic agroforestry hub in Suffolk) on 10-11 May 2025. It is shaping up to be a great one! 📢 A reminder that the deadline to sign up is 🔜 15th December. There are still some very limited spots available and full details have been shared by email to our membership. We are taking expressions of interest by email and will fill the spaces on a first come, first served basis. 🌾The knowledge session will be led by the co-owner of Wakelyns Farm, David Wolfe who is also a KC at Matrix and who has been involved in some of the most important environmental judicial challenges in the UK, including on sewage pollution, the HS2 expansion and the Friends of the Earth challenge to the previous government’s net zero strategy. 🌾On the farm, attendees would also have the chance to learn about agroforestry and organic farming and even participate in volunteering activities. 🌾This will be a day-long weekend event, with the possibility of an overnight stay. We look forward to the opportunity to do something different with our members! #climatechange #legalvoicesforthefuture #lawyers Ming Zee Tee Sarah Hill-Smith Flora Curtis Yomna Elewa Marina Soares Riley Forson Dominika Leitane Emma Short Harriet Hall Catríona Campbell

🎥 Have you seen our fundraising platform - Buy me a coffee? We would really appreciate your help, but why do we need it? ➡️ All our knowledge sessions are run on the volunteer energy of many people - our Stewardship Committee, facilitators, photographers, members, quest interviewees, tech support… and the list goes on and on. We are covered where the main currency is energy 🙏 ➡️ The fundraiser would help us with catering (snacks and drinks) for our events, where such catering is not provided by the venue, as well as with securing a paid venue in case we cannot find a pro bono one. ➡️ Any funds raised help us with running costs for our website, which keeps all our materials accessible in one place - and in the long run will help us to update and improve our website. By helping us you help young lawyers gain easy access to high-quality peer-to-peer education on important ecological and societal issues entirely for free - a cause many no doubt support! 🙏 Every donation is much appreciated 🙏 https://lnkd.in/eyjUnBFf https://lnkd.in/gSXv6vrz #climatechange #legalvoicesforthefuture #lawyers Ming Zee Tee Sarah Hill-Smith Flora Curtis Yomna Elewa Marina Soares Riley Forson Dominika Leitane Emma Short Harriet Hall Catríona Campbell

🙏 We’d like to extend a big thank you to Harriet Hall for the incredibly engaging knowledge session delivered this week on 🌳 Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and Nature Recovery 🌳 🙏 The session helped us to understand what is meant by ‘nature recovery’ and the legislation underpinning mandatory BNG in England, which came into force this year for most development, and what this requires of developers. We also explored how offsite BNG offers an opportunity to finance habitat creation projects. 🙏 We extend our gratitude to the expert panellists for this session Molly Biddell, Henry Parkinson, Isabel Sgambellone and Juliet Rose who shared their fantastic insights and experiences on this topic. The range of perspectives across our panellists and the exciting projects that they are involved with made for a really interesting discussion! 🖼️We also enjoyed reviewing our creative content for this session, a short extract from the book ‘The Fight for Beauty: Our Path to a Better Future’ by Fiona Reynolds. If you missed the session and would like to catch up, a recording of the session will shortly be made available on our website and YouTube channel. We look forward to hopefully seeing lots of you again at our Christmas social next week on Tuesday 10th December.
