You Must Have a Degree to succeed in Business!💥 The belief that a related degree is essential to climb the corporate ladder in business related disciplines has been debated in boardrooms up and down the country for years. Gaining the academic insight into the why's underpinned by research V real time, real experiences working from the ground up. Which carries the best outcomes? Both require a vision and time and commitment to see that vision through. This mindset of organic growth can be empowering for some, yet it raises concerns about the undervaluing of comprehensive knowledge, written and critical thinking skills acquired through traditional education. My Nippy bits - taking me places I haven’t been before. It is always good to take yourself out of your comfort zone, challenge yourself, test just how far you can go.. Well I am doing that with my new Leadership venture & absolutely thrilled with the success I am seeing helping the new managers gain confidence and prowess through the program. I also try and do this in my recreational time too. I’m an open water swimmer which is exciting in its own right but last weekend I went and achieved my 2nd IISA accredited ice mile. Well that’s not a first I hear you say. True - but with being away working in Doha for the run up I was not as acclimatised as I would like to have been. In consultation with organisers & medical team I swam with support that I could exit the water easily if need be. My recovery was longer then previously, but my time was quicker & I did it.. So my moral of the story is, assess your risks, have support & as Nike says - Just Do It. Take on the challenge, the buzz after will be amazing.. and there will be great learnings along the way.
