🚅 Going back from Berlin to Munich - with LeadingEng, one of my best conferences so far, in the books.
I came with high expectations, and those were not in vain! Kudos to the LeadDev team for pulling off one of the best-organised events I've attended so far. I could be raving about all the high-quality sessions and talks, but I liked most that there was so much semi-structured space to get in touch with interesting people.
People like Jens Küsters Robert Hochstrat Christian Dewein Klaus Breyer Nico Z. Sascha Rau .Gustavo Arjones Aurélien DIDIER Rui Pereira Kalle Ott Kalpana Devi Johan Bergebo Olaf Molenveld Evgeny Sharypin and so many more!
Here are a few topics and insights that appeared over and over again:
🚧 Managing technical debt and modernising applications is and always will be a crucial part of building and maintaining software products. Often, the technical challenges turn out to be easier than the corresponding change and stakeholder management.
⏱️ Metrics are everywhere, but rarely are they used to their full potential. Not only talks like the one from Lena Reinhard highlighted this, the topic popped up in many other conversations as well. And we're talking about all kinds of metrics, team and process, technical observability, as well as business KPIs. Mastering your metrics is a very strong indicator for success.
🤝 Collaborating effectively across functions and bringing tech, product, business, or whatever you call them together is crucial. There are so many war stories and best practices to learn from if you just talk to people. And it all starts with the right mindset of being in it together.
What were other highlights you take away from this event?
