Here at Lazarus Training we aim to raise awareness of defibrillators by posting weekly of their locations. But how do you actually use one? 1. Switch on the AED and listen to the voice prompts 2. attach the leads to the AED (some already attached) next attach the pads to the victims bare chest. 3.You may need a towel to dry or shave the chest so the pads can stick properly. 4. Peel the backing from one pad at at time and place firmly in position, following the instructions on the pad (picture). 5. place one pad below the casualties right collarbone. Place the other pad around the casualties left side, over the lower ribs. 6. Whilst the AED analyses the rhythm- stop CPR and make sure no one touches the casualty. 7. push the shock button as directed by AED. 8. Immediately restart CPR as continued by voice prompts.
