Land Based Colleges & Universities Aspiring to Excellence. Promoting and supporting Land Based Colleges and Universities
About us
Landex is a membership organisation of 39 Land-based colleges and universities across the UK, with a farming footprint of 15,000 hectares and 7000 residential beds. 33 of these institutions are designated specialist land-based providers. Landex supports and advocates for its members, and more broadly the land-based occupational and education sectors. This often manifests in benchmarking across the sector, working with a range of government bodies, and partnering with national stakeholders and industry bodies. Land-based colleges and universities are uniquely placed to help lead our country’s green skills revolution, especially in areas such as rewilding or agriculture. As a critical part of our skills infrastructure, they are key to building the workforce we need to achieve our environmental goals, including reaching Net Zero. Land-based colleges also have a crucial role to play in supporting food security, high animal welfare and biodiversity. Landex also has quality improvement at the heart of its mission and supports this via collaboration across providers, peer reviews, CPD and Leadership programmes. The Ofsted profile, or other devolved quality measure was 95% good or better (summer 2023). The Office for students TEF profile of members is Gold and Silver.

An amazing day at the House of Lords today hosted by Lord Curry of Kirkharle Kt CBE to celebrate the first recruiting round of the Sustainable Farm Network of the School of Sustainable Food and Farming @ Harper Adams University. To help build a socially and environmentally resilient and regenerative food system in a net zero landscape, the SFN is connecting diverse demonstration farm networks across the UK to share experiences, findings and best practice. A pre-competitive cross-sector system agnostic forum, free at point of use and need led. Currently 22 Networks, over 3500 farms and at least 200,000 Ha across nations, sectors, scales and systems looking across integrated sustainability parameters. Join us to support our Farming sector, and for all society to enjoy a truly sustainable food system.
