As we wrap up the year, it's a great time to reflect on the events of the last 12 months. It has been a year of growth, learning and plenty of changes in the world of HR and at KR HR & Training. Awards - In March, we were thrilled to be awarded Breathe Partner of the Month. And just recently, we became a Breathe Gold Partner! Team Learning - Kathryn, Amandine and Kirsteen attended this year’s CIPD Festival of work in London in June to stay up to date with the latest trends in HR. We also attended an incredible day at the Breathe Partner Summit jam-packed with exciting updates from the Breathe team. Team Expo - We were excited to attend our first business expo in Bath organised by The Business Exchange South West, where we had the opportunity to showcase our HR services. Employee Achievements - Amandine received a well-deserved promotion to HR Projects and Operations Manager. This promotion reflects her hard work, outstanding contribution and value she brought to our HR team. We were delighted Kirsteen achieved her CIPD Associate Membership through the experience assessment route. This accomplishment consolidates her 20 years of HR experience and her degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management. HR Milestones: Proposed and New Legislation - These last 12 months have brought in new and revised legislation including carer’s leave, workplace prevention of sexual harassment and the new tipping laws as well as further changes to paternity leave and flexible working. The employment rights bill proposed under the Labour government will have a significant impact on the workplace. Whiles these changes aren’t finalised yet, these will impact all businesses. Looking Ahead - Reflecting on these developments, it's clear that the past year has been one of significant change and the proposed legislation changes are set to change workplaces further. As we move forward, we are excited to see how these changes will shape the future of HR, fostering environments where both employees and organisations can thrive. Recruitment - Throughout 2024 we supported clients recruiting new employees. This year we have helped fill a diverse range of roles from driver to client director. What's in store for 2025? 2024 has been a fantastic year for KR HR, but 2025 is shaping up to be even better with some exciting plans in the pipeline. Here’s a little teaser – we’ll be launching new Line Management training in Q1. Stay tuned for more details! Our clients - During 2024, we have worked with 60 different clients of which 20 are new this year. We're thrilled to welcome new clients this year spanning a diverse range such as science, engineering, charity, education and even a riding stables. Thanks for being part of our journey and we wish all of our clients a happy 2025. We are closed from Friday 23rd December until 9am on Thursday 2nd January and provide an on-call service to retained clients during this time, some of whom are open 365 days a year.

What a fabulous festive evening at Rengen House last night for fireside wine tasting! Followed by a Moroccan feast at Tagine Zhor. Who knew that such high quality wines were available in cans! The Canned Wine Co. are doing things differently and it was interesting to learn the lengths they go to in finding the perfect wines, as well as developing the technology to ensure your wine is aged and preserved perfectly. Great to hear of the successes of a local business with new contracts and exports. Thank you to Ben Franks for sharing your knowledge and passion, and to Daisy Barton for the invitation. It made the perfect Christmas social event for our team. #ChristmasParty #TeamSpirit #LocalBiz #Bath #Wiltshire

Christmas season is fast approaching, and with it comes the much-anticipated company Christmas party! Boosting Morale and Building Team Spirit: A company Christmas party provides a fantastic opportunity for businesses to show gratitude to their employees. It is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate everyone’s achievements over the past year. According to numerous studies, employee engagement thrives when teams feel recognised and valued, and a festive celebration can create a sense of camaraderie that carries over into the workplace. In fact, events like these can help strengthen relationships among colleagues, making them feel more connected and motivated. Professionalism at the Party: Contracts Still Apply! While office Christmas parties are a time for fun, it is important to remember that professionalism should still apply. Employees should be aware that their conduct at an event still reflects on the company. Even though it’s a social gathering, the same expectations regarding behaviour, dress codes, and communication apply. This means inappropriate actions, excessive drinking, or unprofessional behaviour could result in consequences. Employers should remind staff that they are still bound by their employment contracts, including policies on conduct, behaviour, and social media usage. Setting expectations ahead of the event is one of a number of ways employers can reduce the risk of inappropriate conduct, which is increasingly important given the new legal duty to take preventative steps to prevent sexual harassment. It's the season of gratitude, celebration, and fun—make the most of it while keeping professionalism in mind! Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or would like support crafting the right words for your party comms – [email protected] We also recommend checking out Male Allies UK #SayNoToMistletoe campaign for some handy resources to help you keep your seasonal events fun for all without worrying about any awkward moments: https://lnkd.in/e6rMWnRM #Christmas2024 #HRConsultancy

International Volunteer Day (IVD) is celebrated annually on the 5th December and it is a day dedicated to celebrating the contributions of volunteers in shaping their communities, economies, and the environment. How to get involved in IVD: - Volunteer locally: Dedicate time to causes in your community, from environmental clean-ups to supporting local charities. - Advocate: Use your platform to highlight the importance of volunteering and encourage others to get involved. - Celebrate volunteers: Recognise and thank the volunteers around you for their contributions. - Participate in events: Join workshops, webinars, or local campaigns organised by community groups. Five facts about volunteering: 1) Volunteering Reduces Stress Engaging in volunteer work fosters social connections and builds a strong support network, which can help alleviate stress and combat feelings of depression. 2) Volunteers Experience Greater Happiness Studies reveal that people who volunteer regularly report higher levels of happiness, with the likelihood of being very happy increasing by up to 12% for those who volunteer every two to four weeks. 3) Improves Longevity Volunteering, particularly for older individuals, is linked to lower mortality rates, contributing to longer and more fulfilling lives. 4) Benefits for Chronic Pain Management Clinical evidence indicates that volunteering enhances overall health and supports better management of chronic pain. 5) Boosted Employment Prospects Volunteering improves employability, with participants being 27% more likely to secure jobs after a period of unemployment. For individuals without a high school degree, volunteering increases their chances of finding employment by 51% compared to non-volunteers. Many companies offer employees opportunities to participate in community projects, with some providing paid volunteer days. This involvement not only enhances community impact but also improves employee morale and strengthens teamwork. Employee Volunteering Initiatives demonstrate how companies can be key partners in fostering sustainable development while building a positive brand image. We’d love to hear about your volunteering experiences in the comments!

A busy morning in sunny Devizes visiting a brand new client in need of HR support, both in terms of updating and creating documents, implementing HR systems, as well as guidance on a complex matter. As with many small business owners who wear lots of hats, HR often only rises to the top of the agenda when there is an immediate issue requiring attention. We help by taking the stress out of the situation, clarifying next steps and putting in place the right foundations to support efficiency, compliance and business results. It's always helpful to understand where new client enquiries come from. Typically, the vast majority of our work comes through old-fashioned word of mouth, however I've noticed a sharp increase in enquires from online search results over the past few weeks, which has led to some exciting new clients. Including today's visit, which followed a telephone enquiry yesterday. I have a suspicion that this may have something to do with having a chat with Darren Earney who we met at Business Growth Group who kindly gave us some handy tips on how to optimise our website, which my colleague Amandine Catoire has been busy putting into practice! Good to know SEO doesn't have to be complex or expensive to make an impact. 📸 A post-meeting picture of Devizes locks on my walk back to my car, as it was such a beautiful day! 25th November is White Ribbon UK Day and The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. 🚺 1 in 4 women in the UK experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. 🚺 Over the past 5 years, there was a 37% increase in violent crimes against women and girls. 🚺 Last year alone, over one million crimes against women and girls were recorded in England and Wales, constituting 20% of all crimes documented by the police. 🚺 An estimated 1 in 20 adults are perpetrators of violence against women and girls annually. Police chiefs describe violence against women and girls a national emergency. If we are to eliminate gender-based violence, it is essential that men are part of the solution. This is highlighted in this year's "It starts with MEn" video. The White Ribbon movement began in 1991 to engage men in the prevention of gender-based violence. At the time, there was very little work being done to engage men in this issue; violence against women and girls was framed as a women’s issue. White Ribbon was founded to address the root cases of men’s violence against women and girls: harmful masculine traits and social norms around what it means to “be a man.” From its beginnings, White Ribbon joined with others around the world to raise awareness about this issue annually on the 25 November and was one of the voices that campaigned for UN recognition of the day. In 2000, White Ribbon Day was designated The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women by the United Nations. White Ribbon Day continues every year to draw attention to the importance of active allyship from men to end violence against women and girls, once and for all. We invite men to make the White Ribbon promise to never use, excuse or remain silent about men's violence against women. This includes calling out inappropriate behaviours, such as cat calling and sexist remarks, which contribute to a hostile environment. Visit the White Ribbon website to find out more about being an ally to women and why it's important for men to lend their support on this issue: https://lnkd.in/eacCekUS Other resources that may be useful regarding domestic abuse: If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse: the Women's Aid website https://lnkd.in/gR4eY37 includes useful information and details of local provision or contact the National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247. If you are in immediate danger but cannot speak, you can call 999 and press 55 when promoted by the operator to make a silent call to the police. The police will try to find your location.
