Econome was born to save entrepreneurs money, time, and, most importantly, subscription headaches. We have been bootstrapping our company with our deals platform, and we know it will be a lifesaver for SMEs. I still received a WhatsApp reminder yesterday about a free trial I signed up for last month, so I have no subscription surprises. Seeing strangers interact with a system built on the desire to change the status quo brings joy to my heart. I hope this helps other builders out there to keep building.
Forgotten and unused software subscriptions, rising costs and hidden transaction fees are some of the primary reasons 65% of UK-based SMBS are at a breaking point. Cutting costs should be a priority for small businesses to navigate these uncertainties. With tools like Wise and Econome, SMBs can save costs at scale.

Not So Scary… It’s Halloween, and across Scotland and the UK, everything has taken on a spooky vibe. From supermarkets to buildings, everyone’s ready for the season—you could say we’re in some scary times. But what’s even scarier is the reality that 90% of businesses fail within the first 5 years, and over 38% of startups close because they run out of cash. Imagine hearing the news that you’re facing redundancy—or should I call it “restructuring”—because your startup has run out of funds. Or, as a small business owner, you’re forced to close your doors and file that heartbreaking notice with HMRC. The memories, the lives your business has touched—not to mention the toll on your mental health and the fear of starting over again, or not knowing what comes next. Even if you’re not part of a startup, running out of cash is a risk if you’re not mindful of your finances. Money is crucial for running a successful business and having a thriving career. And when it comes to money, the little things matter—like not keeping track of the subscriptions you’re signed up for or those recurring monthly bills that quietly add up. That’s pretty scary, right? If you’re like me and want to keep a closer eye on your expenses, Econome is here to help. It’s a software expense management system that gives you access to over 3,400 software products, helps you cancel subscriptions, and sends WhatsApp reminders about products you rarely use or might want to cancel. With these reminders, you can easily cut unnecessary costs and focus on what truly matters. Building your business and career doesn’t have to be scary. The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has adopted a 'click to cancel' rule, which aims to make it easier for people to end subscriptions. It will force companies to make subscription sign-ups and cancellations equally straightforward. Businesses, including retailers and gyms, will also have to get consent from customers before renewing subscriptions or converting free trials into paid memberships. This is why you need to stay on top of your subscriptions with Econome.
