Recently we visited a care home to undertake a survey to upgrade a fire alarm. Dan had seen the recent news of a very sad situation where residents of a care home had passed way from carbon monoxide poisoning. So the conversation naturally expanded to cover this element of safety systems essential to prevent harm to people. Whilst the fire alarm systems we are used to working with don’t have carbon monoxide detectors integrated into them, we did have conversations with several suppliers of fire alarm systems. The guidance surrounding carbon monoxide detectors is two fold: ☑️ any room where there is an appliance of any fuel type must have a detector ☑️ defectors must be wired in or have a lifetime tamper proof battery. Safeguarding residents of care homes is imperative so that we don’t see more news bulletins such as this one (link). Our NHS client has an extensive surveillance camera system for the safety of all stakeholders using their sites. And everything needs to be accessible by the onsite security team 24/7. Recently a community healthcare centre was identified to be in urgent need of a camera upgrade. JKE ensure the system is exactly what is needed; order the kit, get onsite and install. Let’s just talk about obsolete security systems and let’s not kid ourselves about how many there are still in use out there! With JKE there’s a lot of experience in the team which in turn means knowledge of those old systems. In this case it was a very old and obsolete analogue CCTV camera which had a fault. Not an issue; Dan is there on facetime to guide our apprentice Connor. With Dan’s experience in the system and Connors adaptability to work on any security system they soon got to grips with a Dennard2050 PTZ that had the lovely ‘Homing Servos’ message on the screen. We install to the highest of standards In a recent CCTV installation at a community healthcare centre in use on a daily basis that means minimal interruption from the team. Install and commission to the best standard without making it hard for staff and patients to be doing what needs to be done.
