In 1975, the British Association of Industrial Editors foresaw the growing need for a more holistic internal communication function, asking if industrial editors - in-house producers of staff publications - were ready to "widen their horizons." The article also suggested the dominance of the printed word was being challenged by TV and radio and that "house journals will be completely outdated in 20 years." Personally or within your organisation, have you tried reverse mentoring – where a junior colleague mentors or advises a senior colleague on work/tech/industry-related issues? Reverse mentoring can help bridge generational gaps and give senior colleagues/peers a perspective of how junior or younger people prefer to work. If you have tried it yourself (as the junior or senior colleague) or know someone who has, or have implemented it within your organisation, we are looking for advice and tips for a short feature in the next issue of Voice, our membership magazine. Please leave us a comment below if you have insight to share.

Institute of Internal Communication reposted this
I've some exciting news to share: I've taken on the (additional) role of Ireland Network Lead for the Institute of Internal Communication (IoIC). 🥳 I know I've got big shoes to fill as I follow in the footsteps of Scott McInnes, Catherine Finn, Anne-Louise Childs, Joanna Parsons and Keith Gill (amongst others), who have done so much for the IoIC network in Ireland over the last few years. ➡️ What's next? 🔝 My top priority will be to get some in-person and virtual events 📆 in the diary. 📧 Get in touch and let me know what you'd like to see happening next year. I look forward to getting stuck into the role and seeing more of you all in 2025. #IoIC #IoICCommunity #Networks #InternalCommunications #Networking #Leadership #Ireland
