About us

InstaVolt develops, installs, owns and operates rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the UK. For drivers We pride ourselves on having the simplest and most transparent approach to electric vehicle charging in the UK. All our charging units are available for EV drivers to use on a pay-as-you-go, no subscription basis. There’s no connection charge; drivers simply tap their contactless credit or debit card and only pay for the electricity used. For landowners We offer partner-landlords the ability to earn a rental income by allowing us to place our fully-funded rapid charging stations on their sites. Partner-landlords also benefit from other benefits brought by the chargers, including the extra footfall and trade from visiting EV drivers. Forecourt operators, service stations, retail and leisure outlets, and local authorities are just some of the organisations that can reap the financial rewards of leasing a small area of their land to us. "We are here for drivers and if we're to support them to make a successful transition then charging needs to be both accessible and affordable. Working closely with industry and government, we’re committed to making that happen." Our CEO Delvin Lane has been speaking with BBC Radio 4's Today programme. CEO, InstaVolt

This morning, I’ve been speaking with BBC Radio 4's Today programme about wholesale energy prices and their correlation with EV charging costs, following a new RAC report. I just want to pick up here on a few of the points raised. Substantial investment is being made by InstaVolt, and other charge point operators, to create the sustainable EV charging infrastructure needed for the UK’s growing fleet of EV drivers. Investment that is made without any financial support from the government. We are happy to continue to drive this growth - and indeed will be investing millions more by 2030 – remaining fully committed to supporting drivers and making EV ownership as affordable as possible. This includes tackling the misinformation that continues to circulate around the cost and benefits of making the switch. As the report rightly highlights, wholesale energy prices are just one small piece of a complex puzzle. For example, while those prices may have dropped, in tandem we've seen standing charges increase exponentially in recent years. Against this backdrop, we continue to look for all possible means by which we can reduce costs for drivers, such as through our off-peak tariffs and partnerships with innovators such as Octopus Electroverse, including pushing for a levelling up of VAT to take public charging rates in line with home charging. A saving that we would pass on in full to drivers. Another example is how we will be deploying solar PV and battery technology – such as at our Winchester Superhub opening next spring – further increasing the sustainability of our sites, while also helping reduce expensive grid, standing charges and power costs. We are here for drivers and if we're to support them to make a successful transition then charging needs to be both accessible and affordable. Working closely with industry and government, we’re committed to making that happen. ⭐Why Winchester?⭐ Next spring, our shiny new InstaVolt Superhub will officially open in Three Maids, boasting 44 fully accessible charging bays, including drive-through bays for large/towing vehicles, a cafe, bathroom facilities, and kids play area. But why there? Why Winchester? Here are 3 great reasons…. 🗺️Key travel routes - Positioned just metres from the A34 junction and close to the M3, it’s the perfect place for us to service EV drivers heading out on popular transport routes. 🛣️The numbers - Did you know, around 5.6million people visit Winchester every year! And more than 9 billion vehicle miles were travelled on roads in Hampshire in 2023 alone (DfT). We want to help keep EV drivers fully charged, with access to reliable charging infrastructure, when and where it’s needed. 🤝Supporting our region - It is also fitting that our first superhub will be within easy reach of InstaVolt HQ and that it is being built in partnership with local teams and suppliers, including our friends at Enviromena who are installing the on-site solar array, and the fantastic team at Parco Civil Engineering & Groundworks ltd who are handling its construction. #evs #electricvehicles #evchargers #charginginfrastructure #winchester

While there is much disappointment and controversy at the moment surrounding a weakening of the EV mandate – and we’ll just have to wait and see how that all plays out – I’m glad the government is taking positive steps in other ways to help drive the mass adoption of electric vehicles.   Today, I had the pleasure of taking part in some filming with the Department for Transport (DfT), for an initiative that aims to help educate the general public and build confidence that the reliable charging infrastructure needed to support the EV transition is underway. Showing all the progress that has been made and how companies like InstaVolt continue to work hard to grow the nationwide network.    Something I was particularly happy to speak to the DfT about is our new superhub currently under construction in Winchester, which will set the standard for service stations of the future. The site will combine our tap-and-go, ultra-rapid chargers, with onsite solar and battery storage, demonstrating a blueprint for a truly sustainable solution. Integrating technological innovation, such as solar and batteries, allows us to generate and store 100% renewable energy, supporting our ambition to reduce energy costs which in turn can be passed onto the consumer.   We know that making the transition to EVs both accessible and affordable is going to be key for driving mass adoption and we’re glad to be working closely with the DfT to address these issues. My thanks to the DfT team for the invite to take part and for battling the elements out on site – it was certainly a cold one. #evs #evmandate #electricvehicles #dft #charginginfrastructure

COP29 is now well underway, shining a spotlight on the global action that is necessary to combat climate change. With the decarbonisation of transport a key piece of the puzzle, it was a pleasure for myself and my team to speak with ITN Business on exactly that subject. Here is a studio interview we recently took part in that forms part of a broader programme featuring companies from across the renewables space, looking at the challenge of moving to net zero. At InstaVolt, we’ve long been committed to providing the sustainable infrastructure needed to support the transition to electric, and our network continues to grow at pace.  My thanks once again to the ITN Business team, and to Simon and Jo for getting the message across so perfectly.  #cop29 #evs #electricvehicles #evchargers #charginginfrastructure #sustainability #decarbonisation

Now that’s what you call a showstopper! These teaser shots of Jaguar’s new EV prototype wrapped in camouflage, come ahead of the model’s full reveal in early December. From 2025, JLR’s Jaguar division is going fully-electric - one of the first legacy manufacturers to do so - with JLR making a £500 million investment into its Halewood factory in the UK, as the site pivots to electric vehicle production over the coming years. This EV is one of a trio of premium Jaguar EVs set to be revealed in the near future. And we can’t wait to see them! #evs #electricvehicles #fullyelectric #JLR #jaguar #showstopper
