Inspiring the Future
Non-profit Organizations
Connecting children and young people with inspiring role models from the world of work.
About us
Young people aspire to be what they see around them in their everyday life but it’s difficult to aspire to a future that you never see and don’t know exists. Inspiring The Future changes this. We believe that every state-educated young person in our country, wherever they live, whatever their parents/carers’ circumstances, should have the opportunity to hear first-hand about jobs and the world of work. A young person’s background should not determine their chances of getting these opportunities. From app designers to zoologists, apprentices to CEOs, volunteers give from an hour a year to share their career story with a local school. Our new virtual interactive sessions also enable young people wherever they live - from inner cities to rural and coastal communities or areas with a narrow economic base - to encounter volunteers with a diverse range of jobs and backgrounds. Such diverse and inclusive interactions have a positive impact on young people’s academic attainment and outcomes for employment and earning potential and help secure the UK’s workforce for the future. Inspiring the Future is run by the charity Education and Employers. The service also includes Primary Futures, the counterpart to Inspiring the Future for primary-aged children, and the careers website icould.com, which features over 1000 real-life career videos, labour market information and practical guides.
