Director - EV & Future Mobility - Recruiting exceptional Senior & Leadership talents globally

2024 will soon draw to a close but before I head out to enjoy some qaulity family time, I want to take a moment to wish all my wonderful clients and candidates a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for placing your trust in me once again and I look forward to supporting you in the new year and beyond. With over a decade of search experience hiring across the #emobility and broader #futuremobility sectors, at senior and leadership level, if we're not already talking, we should be. Whether you're thinking about accelerating your career or scaling a high-performing team, let's connect and introduce ourselves in January. Much like the EV sector, this year personally has been a rollercoaster, to say the least. Whilst we celebrated the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Kate, we also faced challenges as both my parents courageously battled and overcame cancer. Whilst not looking for sympathy, I look at what this year has taught me. Their resilience and positive mindset has inspired me, and I'm carrying their spirit into 2025, determined to make it a year of growth, achievement, and positive impact. Here's to a happy, healthy, and electric New Year for each of us. #Christmas #NewYear #Talent #Growth #Hiring

2024: A challenging year, but not without opportunity for cleantech. I love the data and insight from Sifted. The themes here won't be a surprise to anyone in the investment or cleantech community, but having the numbers and insight really helps. Investment cooled significantly in H2, dropping 55% compared to H1 — the lowest number of deals since 2012. Yet amid the downturn, cleantech remained one of the most funded verticals, pulling in €5.4bn. Energy storage, emobility, and solar stood strong as key players. While late-stage capital dried up, early-stage deals held steady, and there’s one major positive: there’s a lot of dry powder waiting to be deployed. Investors are cautious, but they haven’t disappeared. At Hyperion Search Ltd we've seen that this caution was echoed in hiring trends. Fewer companies have been scaling aggressively, but for top talent, the war has never been hotter. When hiring slows, securing the best candidates becomes even more competitive. For cleantech leaders and investors, the opportunity lies in resilience and focus. Building great companies with great culture and great talent, providing true competitive advantages — especially in the energy and mobility transitions — we won't see caution thrown to the wind, but that's a good thing. The effects from Trump and Northvolt are yet to be seen, but I think the sector is in good shape for 2025. What do you think, does this echo what you saw and experienced? How optimistic are you for 2025? #cleantech #investment #growth #talent

Breaking Down Barriers in Solar Hiring The solar industry is at the forefront of the energy transition, yet we can't lead the way without addressing the structural barriers that hold back equitable hiring and promotions. As highlighted in this article, the need for diverse and inclusive talent pipelines is not just about fairness—it's a business imperative in a competitive, rapidly evolving sector like solar. From my experience in solar and cleantech recruitment, I’ve seen how inclusive hiring practices can transform organizations. It’s not just about ticking boxes; it’s about building teams with varied perspectives that drive innovation and resilience. Leaders in solar must ask themselves: Are we truly fostering environments where diverse talent can thrive and advance? Are we challenging unconscious biases in our hiring and promotions processes? Change starts at the top, and the companies that commit to breaking down these barriers will not only attract top talent but also retain it, creating a more sustainable future for the industry and beyond. How are you addressing equity and inclusion in your hiring practices? Let’s share ideas and learn from each other. #SolarEnergy #DiversityAndInclusion #Cleantech https://lnkd.in/esgH_twZ

Hiring internationally adds layers of complexity. Someone doing the same role in Oslo, San Francisco, or Bangalore might have vastly different living costs and market salary expectations. Then there’s the question of sectoral hotspots: industries like energy storage or e-mobility are seeing significant salary inflation, driven by high demand and limited supply of experienced talent. Thoughts on salary strategies for international businesses, and those in 'hot' sectors. #talent #hiring #salarybenchmarking #HR

I've been working in search for well over a decade now and one thing I'll never get tired of is the opportunity to connect remarkably talented individuals with great clients. I had the recent pleasure of working with Matt Bull to secure his new role as Head of Sales at EN Plus and I'm excited to see the impact he will have on the business moving forward. All the very best Matt and thank you for the kind words. • Green Skills: The Talent Challenge in Cleantech The transition to a green economy is one of the most significant challenges—and opportunities—of our time. Yet, as highlighted in a recent Raconteur article, the talent pool for green skills is alarmingly small, creating hurdles for companies across industries looking to grow sustainably. This challenge is especially acute in cleantech, where the skills gap exists at all levels—from technical specialists to operational leaders. At Hyperion Executive Search, we see this every day in the roles we help fill at Board, C-Suite, and mid-to-senior levels. The reality is, finding the right talent in such a niche sector requires more than just recruitment. It takes deep industry expertise, an unparalleled network, and the ability to uncover hidden talent. For our clients, these rare, high-impact hires can make the difference between growth and stagnation, between innovation and missed opportunity. That’s why they turn to us—to ensure they not only compete for the best talent but win. The article emphasizes the urgent need for green skills across the board, but the challenge is amplified in leadership roles where expertise must combine with vision and execution. Whether it’s scaling a solar project, developing energy storage solutions, or driving the adoption of e-mobility, the stakes are high, and the talent is scarce. If you're navigating the cleantech talent landscape, we'd love to talk about how our experience can help your organization find and secure the leadership you need to grow. #talent #cleantech #climatetech #scaleup https://lnkd.in/ekhgaXgy

I’ve long been an advocate of flexible working. At Hyperion, we embraced a flexible culture long before the pandemic made it mainstream. As a global search firm, our work often demands meetings and calls outside traditional office hours. This flexibility has been part of our DNA, allowing us to adapt to the diverse needs of our clients and candidates while creating a healthier work environment for our team. Where do you stand on flexibility and working to your personal rhythms? #leadership #futureofwork #flexibility #energy

Director - Recruiting exceptional talent for international Energy Storage & Grid clients

Energy storage is booming across Europe, with no sign of a slow down. 🚀 The latest Mercom report, featuring a deep dive analysis by Wood Mackenzie, shows Europe utility-scale ESS pipeline (excluding pumped hydro) spans 1,502 projects across 33 countries, totalling 62 GW of capacity! Here are some of the key takeaways: 🔹 The top 15 asset owners control over 1/3 of the total capacity. The UK dominates with over half the pipeline capacity, attributed to high project count but also larger storage projects. Germany has a high project count but at smaller scale, making up just 10% of capacity. 🔹 Ownership trends are shifting: Investment funds lead in operational project ownership, but utilities account for large pipeline capacities. Outside of the UK, investment funds are retreating as power companies and utilities grow their presence. 🔹 Increasing Role of Utilities: Utilities, IPPs, and independent flex providers (IFPs) are becoming more active due to the challenge of integrating renewable energy. 🔹 Standalone vs. Hybrid Projects: Standalone storage projects are more ambitious in capacity expansion than hybrid portfolios, although 57% of top companies incorporate multiple technologies. 🔹 Developers are holding tight: Since 2020, developers are holding onto projects longer to maximize early-stage revenues before divestment. 🔹 M&A activity is heating up: Strategic acquisitions are popular for utilities looking to scale fast. They’re snapping up smaller players to strengthen their positions. This evolving landscape reflects the growing importance of energy storage in enabling the transition to renewables and a diverse mix of players entering the sector! From a careers perspective, I am seeing a huge emphasis on delivery and execution talent given the vast capacity of projects still to become operational. Talent across construction and engineering delivery, project leadership, commercial management, O&M and commissioning will be in high demand as well as top leadership talent who can spearhead continued pipeline growth and management internationally! Exciting times for the sector! #energystorage #ess #bess #europe
