Our 2024 Christmas video celebrates the people behind the music we love. Remembering the huge value music and musicians bring to us, not only at Christmas, but every day. From all of us at Help Musicians and Music Minds Matter, wishing a wonderful, safe festive season. A huge thank you to our contributors, Wandsworth Symphony Orchestra and BOXPARK Croydon, for making this Christmas video possible. Special thanks to BOXPARK for hosting and letting us film at the Christmas Light Switch On: A Variety Show.

What would Christmas be without music? We all have one song that reminds us its time to get into the spirit of joy, togetherness and gratitude. Our 2024 Christmas video gives us all a moment to thank everyone who helped keep the music playing this year. A huge thank you to our contributors, Wandsworth Symphony Orchestra and BOXPARK Croydon, for making this Christmas video possible. Special thanks to BOXPARK for hosting and letting us film at the Christmas Light Switch On: A Variety Show. Wishing you a festive season from all of us at Help Musicians and Music Minds Matter. “Only 9% of professional musicians’ playing hours and a mere 1% of amateurs’ playing hours were fully protected”. Well done to Robin Hake, Kai Siedenburg and the whole research team on this new paper. It’s great to read work that examines the hearing health risks faced by both professional and amateur musicians alike. To any musicians out there looking to get discounted hearing protection and learn more about their hearing health and well-being, I’d highly advise applying for the Musicians Hearing Health Scheme run by Help Musicians and Harley Street Hearing & Musicians' Hearing Services
Professor of Acoustics, Graz University of Technology and Principal Investigator, Music Perception and Processing Lab, University of Oldenburg
New paper on hearing health of professional and amateur orchestral musicians: We observe a considerable aversion of hearing aids among professional musicians and some headroom regarding the use of hearing protection, especially in amateurs. Many more findings in the paper, which is a team effort led by Robin Hake.

Last night, we joined the festive fun at the Music In Offices 2024 Christmas concert, featuring #WorkplaceChoirs from Bird & Bird, Trowers & Hamlins, Stewarts, Channel 4, Wedlake Bell, City of London Corporation and the Fleet Street Quarter BID. Singing has a positive effect on mental health, and last night’s performances were a wonderful reminder of how coming together to sing can lift spirits, reduce stress, and strengthen connections. A huge thank you to Music In Offices for hosting such a fantastic event, supporting Music Minds Matter, and helping to raise awareness of the vital connection between music and mental well-being. 💚

Gliding gracefully into the spirit of Christmas at our festive event last night helped by Rianna Henriques on flute and sax, the beautiful tenor voice of Elgan Llŷr Thomas and soon to be musical theatre star Chad St Louis, all accompanied by Ben Kubiak, and all supported by Help Musicians. Thank you for your excellent hosting Natalya Romaniw and such a pity we didn't get to hear you sing - next time! A massive thank you to all our supporters, it’s your generosity that enables us to empower talented musicians and create moments of magic like those we experienced together last night. 👏 I hope all those who came and supported enjoyed it as much as I did. On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me…. 🎶 🕊️ 🪿 🦢🐄🪈🥁 🤣 #salonrecital #helpmusicians #festivefun
