Today the HPA have published a new report projecting the future domestic heat pump workforce. The report covers the entire workforce required for 600,000 heat pump installations by 2028 and 1.6 million by 2035. Importantly, whilst heat pump installer training rates are growing, there's still a significant gap between the number of trained individuals and those actively installing🔧 For the details of the project and more key findings, read the report 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJPrYtUx Interested in the methodology? Improvement in Heat Pump Performance highlighted by new Electrification of Heat Demonstration Reports and Datasets. Today Energy Systems Catapult have published their Electrification of Heat Demonstration (EoH) reports and associated datasets, funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. This comprehensive study sought to explore the feasibility of a large-scale rollout of heat pumps across the UK, primarily focusing on evaluating their suitability for a wide range of homes and capturing customer feedback. ⚡ The HPA are pleased to see the Government publish the Clean Power 2030 Action Plan: Assessment of the Clean Energy Skills Challenge, referencing our latest report. Find the Assessment of the Clean Energy Skills Challenge here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eAb5mHQ9 📈 The HPA’s analysis - Projecting the Future Domestic Heat Pump Workforce - shows that whilst heat pump training rates are increasing, we need to see growth in confidence and demand to ensure installers go on to actively install heat pumps. Read the HPA's Workforce Report here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJPrYtUx The Government’s new Clean Power 2030 Action Plan highlights how unlocking planning restrictions, improving grid infrastructure and supporting demand flexibility are key to reaching net zero goals, and facilitating heat pump deployment. Yesterday, Charlotte Lee, Chief Executive of the HPA. was a panellist at the Future Homes Hub Annual Conference, discussing the critical success factors needed for the delivery of the Future Homes Standard 🏡 The panel, which included John Palmer (Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government), David Adams (Future Homes Hub), Trudie McCormick (Keepmoat), Stewart Dalgarno (Future Homes Hub), Stephen Andrew (Taylor Wimpey plc), and Neil Madgwick (UK Power Networks), discussed the importance of: 💬 Consistent and clear consumer messaging 📈 The availability of products and workforce growth ⚡ Grid readiness 🗓️ The need for certainty and clarity from the Government on the intent and timescales to support a smooth transition. With John Palmer commenting: “The sector shouldn’t read into the delayed response to the Future Homes Standard consultation as a sign of a lack of commitment or ambition from the Government”, we are hopeful for a Future Homes Standard consultation response soon. #Futurehomesstandard #futurehomeshub #futurehomeshubconference
