Healthwatch England
Hospitals and Health Care
We are the independent national champion for people who use health and social care services.
About us
We are the independent champion for people who use health and social care services in England. Our job is to find out what matters to people and to help make sure their views shape the services and support they need. There is a local Healthwatch in every area of England. We listen to what people like about NHS and social care services, and what could be improved, and we share their views with those with the power to make change happen. Local Healthwatch also help people find the information they need about services in their area. Visit our website to find your local Healthwatch or to discover what people have told us about health and social care services.

Talking about NHS dentistry, our Chief Executive calls on the Government to consider allowing people to register as a permanent patient, as they do with an NHS GP. This will help people access appointments and ensure they can get the dental care they need. https://lnkd.in/eme4wmYu

According to a report from the National Audit Office (NAO), the dental recovery plan, launched in February, is failing in both the number of dentists doing NHS work and people receiving help from them. NAO’s analysis confirms what we hear from many people as they continue to struggle to see an NHS dentist. "These findings underline the deplorable state of NHS dentistry," - our chief executive Louise Ansari said in the Guardian today. “The difficulty of getting NHS dental treatment is one of the public’s biggest concerns about the healthcare system generally and is a crisis that dental leaders have estimated is denying 13 million people access to NHS appointments.” #fixNHSdentistry https://lnkd.in/eStqfVT5
