On Tuesday evening, Adam took part in a panel discussion about the current themes of collecting in contemporary art. The panel explored how to start collecting, what to ask, where to go, and key principles for buying art. The main takeaway: collect art because you love it, not just as an investment (or maybe just because you are hungry for a banana…🍌) Much attention was given to the role of the art advisor and what qualities make for a professional one: someone who’s knowledgeable, trustworthy, and understands both the market and your personal taste. Finally, the discussion underlined the need to support museums and cultural institutions in the UK. Thanks to @contemporaryartsociety for organising and to Vavara Roza for moderating and to fantastic fellow panelist’s Charlene Prempeh Roland Cowan and Robert Suss #contemporaryart #artadvisor #artcollector

A great round up of The Art & Data panel moderated by Hallett Independent Director, Nathanael Price. Thank you Elizabeth Marston 👏
The Art Market 2050 | London, October 11 🎙️ Panel | Art & Data: Existing data for new opportunities While asset managers, banks, and insurers are increasingly incorporating art into their strategies, questions remain around data and transparency. How should data be structured and used to unlock new business opportunities? Is it primarily for internal use, or is there growing client demand for technology-driven solutions? Join Harco van den Oever (Overstone Art Services), Chris Bentley (AXA XL), and Nathanael Price (Hallett Independent ) as they explore these key issues. 🙏 A big thank you to AXA XL for sponsoring this event. Thank you also to our Supporting Partners DACS, Hallett Independent , Overstone Art, to our Founding Partner Artclear Ltd, and to our Media Partner artnet. 🎟️ Last few tickets left! https://lnkd.in/dNhZeP38 Looking forward to see you there! #TheArtMarket2050 #ArtTech #Conference #London #FriezeFriday

Last Tuesday we were lucky enough to host the brilliant Angelina Giovani-Agha for our Due Diligence & Provenance Strategies event at the University Women's Club. The morning was a fascinating dive into case studies - both solved and unsolved - which illustrated useful strategies, red flags, creative thinking and sheer tenacity, ending with a useful toolkit of resources to help attendees put Angelina's extensive experience into action when faced with their own due diligence questions. A lively discussion about the challenges of provenance followed thanks to the knowledgable audience and host! An invaluable insight for our clients and contacts - thank you Angelina and thanks to Nathanael Price for introducing the event. If you would be interested in attending an event like this in the future, please message here or email [email protected] to be added to our events mailing list. Thank you to Association of Women Art Dealers (AWAD) & Association of Women in the Arts (AWITA) for publicising the event 👏 #artmarket #duediligence #goodbusiness

Fire and security protections can be key to an insurer's risk appetite. There are some great resources available for galleries and museums, such as Collections Trust website: https://lnkd.in/giEm_GBp If you are ever in doubt, drop your Hallett Independent account manager a message. #heretohelp #riskmanagement #insurancebroker #galleryinsurance #museuminsurance #heritageinsurance #artinsurance #collectionsinsurance Museum Development North

I had a wonderful experience this morning as a guest on BBC4 "Start of the Week", along with the National Gallery curator of the new Caravaggio show Francesca Whitlum-Cooper and Orlando Whitfield author of the brilliant new book "All that glitters". We spoke about provenance, risk in the art market and Caravaggio's innovative approach to well known subject matters! Thank you to @BB4, Natalia Fernandez, Katy Hickman and Tom Sutcliffe for having me! you can have a listen to the episode below: https://lnkd.in/eEg2PbZC

We are pleased to announce Hallett Independent has successfully qualified as a 2023 Active Member with @galleryclimatecoalition! To achieve Active status we had to demonstrate that our organisation had implemented environmental sustainability best practice in line with GCC guidance. Active Membership is not a certification of sustainability nor a claim that we are doing things perfectly or have all the answers - none of us are at this point. We’re all doing our best to assess, report and reduce our impact, setting targets in line with science, taking any actions we can and working out other solutions as we go. We encourage all of our peers and colleagues to visit the @galleryclimatecoalition page or website to learn more about the initiative and how to get involved! #GCCActiveMember2023 #TogetherForOurPlanet #ClimateAction #ClimateEmergency #GCC #GalleryClimateCoalition
We are thrilled to announce the GCC members that have achieved 2023 Active Status! 🌟 So far, 125 organisations and individuals have qualified for Active Membership, by demonstrating environmental sustainability best practice in line with GCC guidance. This is a fantastic indicator of the progress that has been made across the sector, and we recognise how much hard work has gone into these applications. This is a rolling initiative so if you’d also like to apply then let us know. #GCCActiveMembership #GCCActiveMembers #ClimateAction #DecarbonisingTheArtWorld Amber Sterling Anchorage Museum Arcual ART 2030 Art Basel Arta ArtCan Artclear Ltd Badr El Jundi Barbican Centre Bartha_contemporary Bow Arts Cardi Gallery Carolina Grau Rahola Castlefield Gallery CHART Christie's Contemporary Art Society Cristea Roberts Gallery Crown Fine Art DACS DITTRICH & SCHLECHTRIEM Fermynwoods Contemporary Art Foundling Museum Frieze Fruitmarket Galeria Lume KORNFELD GALERIE BERLIN Gander & White Shipping Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art gowithYamo - The Art Exhibition App Museo Guggenheim Bilbao Haley Mellin Hallett Independent Hauser & Wirth Horniman Museum and Gardens Hosfelt Gallery Hospital Rooms San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art ICF International Curators Forum (continued in comments)
