Later today we are hosting the High Street Heroes Awards 2024 which recognise the excellent customer service provided by businesses here in Maidstone Town Centre. Businesses are nominated by the public and it is an opportunity to say thank you to the retail, hospitality, leisure, health & beauty, charity and other businesses working hard in the town. This year we have been delighted to partner with One Maidstone Business Improvement District and Metro Bank (UK) Ben Sizer. Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight and well done again to everyone nominated. #maidstone #business #customerservice #retail #hospitality #health&beauty, #leisure #kent #highstreet

Last month we supported The Maplesden Noakes School in giving year 11 students mock employer interviews. We have received a lovely reply from the team there which highlights how important it is for local businesses to support school leavers and their next steps on their career journey. "I wanted to write to say a huge thank you to you for helping to support the Year 11 student mock employer interviews at The Maplesden Noakes School. This event is a tough one and it takes a lot of time and effort to organise and prepare the students to come off Timetable and to have written a CV for you to read. That’s without networking and asking our community to support deliver the interviews themselves! This year you interviewed 210 students and all before lunchtime, so hats off to each of you. I know the going was tough but the tough got going! I have glanced at the feedback from the students on the day and here is just a snapshot taken from their comments: “I learnt a lot and I had a very nice employer who gave me great feedback.” “I really enjoyed the experience with a lovely atmosphere.” “Great help for later on in life and its fun to experience new things.” “10/10. I came in nervous for the interview and ended up lost for words about the tips I was given.” “I really enjoyed the experience”. “The interviewer is a person as well, not some scary higher power”. “It was very helpful and will prepare me for a real interview.” I hope this gives you a little snapshot into how the day unfolded and how the students felt after their two days. It’s always hard work bringing in employer encounters into school, but it is probably the most rewarding part of the job too. When you read the student feedback and see how they have changed, thinking about their Post 16 destinations along with the knowledge they need to help make a decision, it really does make all the difference. But we couldn’t do it without you, so thank you. We have 240 students next year so if you feel like you’d be up for the challenge given the time constraints in place then please stay in touch! Keep making a difference." We will certainly be back next year to help, so well done to the team there and all the businesses in Maidstone who took part and our team Lizzie Smith who coordinated. #careers #education #schoolleavers #support #maidstone #kent

Voting has now finished in this year's High Street Heroes competition and we have been blown away by the response this year with nearly 300 nominations for local businesses and their employees in Maidstone thanking them for their excellent customer service. What fantastic support from the public. Our judges will now meet to go through the responses and we will announce the winners in November. We will be contacting all businesses nominated to invite them along for an evening of networking and the results. Thank you to our partners One Maidstone BID and Metro Bank (UK)Ben Sizer. Keep shopping local and supporting your high street businesses! #awards #business #highstreet #maidstone #charity #retail #hospitality #healthandbeauty
