John and Christabel have been in Bern this week as plans for the 37th edition of the #WorldCheeseAwards unfold! We're excited to be working with Switzerland to bring WCA to Switzerland for the first time next year 🇨🇭 While they were there they attended a media conference to announce the awards taking place in Switzerland and visited some of the key locations for next year’s event including the new festival hall where judging will take place. #cheese #switzerland #bern

Congratulations to Lyburn Farmhouse Cheesemakers who won Best British Cheese at this year's #WorldCheeseAwards with their Stoney Cross 🧀🏆 The semi-hard, pasteurised cow’s milk cheese is made with vegetarian rennet and matured for 8 weeks by Lyburn Farmhouse Cheesemakers near Salisbury. Stoney Cross was also named Best Specialist Cheesemakers Association Member cheese, sponsored by the Specialist Cheesemakers Association British cheeses received 63 awards in total, with notable wins including two Super Golds for St. Jude in Bungay for their St. Jude and St. Helena cheeses. Today a team of #WorldCheeseAwards judges have come together at Guild House in Gillingham, Dorset to judge the British cheeses that did not make it to Viseu due to custom clearance issues in Portugal. This additional judging day is being conducted with the same judging criteria, under the same controlled conditions and, where possible, with judges who attended the main judging day in Portugal. There were 6 teams with 30-35 cheeses each. Each team assessed their table of cheeses awarding Bronze, Silver and Gold awards and finally selecting one Super Gold from their table. A team of 6 judges then assessed the Super Golds, scoring them out of 7 to determine which cheese will take home the trophy for Best British Cheese.
