Lack of affordable housing not only affects workers' ability to live near their jobs but also impacts health, education, and overall prosperity. More affordable housing boosts the local economy and reduces the housing benefit bill. National Plan: Establishing a 20-year cross-party National Affordable Housing Plan. Cabinet Position: Elevate housing importance to a Cabinet position for consistent and committed leadership. Planning Resources: Better funding and resources for local planning departments. Incentivise Growth: Higher grant rates for projects with higher percentages of affordable housing. It's time for a strategic approach to affordable housing as a national infrastructure priority.
