As we approach the end of the year it is often the time we reflect on the past. For this #throwbackthursday we're looking at the very beginning of our oldest business - Hayton Coulthard. Peter Coulthard started the haulage company delivering newspapers with an Indian motorbike and sidecar in 1916. They proved very popular in the UK after its factory team took the first three places in the 1911 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy. No one can recall the colour of Peter's motorbike and sidecar, but there is a chance it was similar to this advert from the same era. #ourheritage #ourhistory #deliveringwinners

We are focused on cutting emissions in our logistics business. Here, Paul Jefferson our Group Legal and Sustainability Director, explains more.
Selecting the right fuel for the right application is key to maximising sustainability. Paul Jefferson, Group Legal and Sustainability Director at Gregory Group, explains how he's achieving this by deploying a mix of electric, gas and fuel-efficient diesel trucks. ✅🚛 #sustainabletransport #drivingprogress #volvotrucks #electrictrucksinreality

We have been collecting milk from farms since the 1980s working on behalf of a range of dairy companies. Every day we collect milk from 20% of the UK's dairy farms. #milkcollection #milkhaulage #deliveringwinners

In 1927, Archie Gregory was the first to locally cart cattle by road from North Tawton to Exeter. Previously farmers had been reliant on the railways where they would load the cattle in the early hours and then walk them by foot from the railhead to the market in Exeter. The introduction of road transport meant cattle could be loaded at 7:30am and be in market by 9:30am. This 5 ton BMC was part of the cattle transportation fleet in the 1950s. #ThrowbackThursday #TBT #OurHeritage #DeliveringWinners

We are just one of 90 transport businesses in the world to have our sustainability targets validated by (Science Based Targets initiative) SBTi. At Gregory Group we are determined to reduce the carbon footprint of the logistics sector and we aren't willing to wait for others to clear a path in which we can follow. This validation confirms that our targets are consistent with reducing global warming. The Bedford O Series worked from 1949 to the late 1960s. In addition to the short wheel-base, we also used long wheel-base variants and a bull nosed 1957/58 S Bedford. These vehicles were highly adaptable with a ramp that slid out from under the flatbed, sideboards, a rear gate, and an open top. They worked as tippers at quarries, delivered bulk coke to coal merchants, and collected slag from railways. Their other main function was agricultural work carrying animals to and from market and transporting feed such as hay and straw. The first O Series Bedford was bought new on 8th August 1949 for £668. This heritage vehicle, which now resides in our heritage museum, was found near North Tawton having transferred to farming use from the war department. #ThrowbackThursday #TBT #HeritageFleet #VintageTrucks #DeliveringWinners

We recently welcomed these Volvo Aeros to the fleet. They are a new upgraded aerodynamic model of the FH Globetrotter Volvo. The Hayton Coulthard team are trialling the new model within their long haul fleet to see how they perform. #newfleet #haulage #deliveringwinners
