Stanground Academy has shown the true spirit of giving this festive season by donating over 700 meals to the Peterborough Foodbank! This incredible contribution was made possible through the school’s Christmas Jumper Day, where pupils wore their festive best in exchange for bringing in food donations. Their amazing generosity added up to 300kg of food, which will provide meals for those in need across Peterborough. The response was so overwhelming that a van, kindly lent by 3WaysTransport, was needed to deliver the donations to the foodbank at Dodson House in Fengate. A massive thank you to everyone who took part and made a difference this Christmas! 💜 🎄

We are delighted to share the excellent feedback from Welland Academy's recent Ofsted inspection. The inspectors praised the strong ethos of the school, highlighting how pupils enjoy and value learning. They observed that the children work hard, ask thoughtful questions, and support one another in their education. Early years were particularly commended for their curiosity and attentiveness, while across all year groups, pupils demonstrated resilience, pride, and a love for learning. The report emphasised the school’s dedication to fostering positive relationships and a vibrant community. Inspectors noted how pupils thrive in a nurturing environment, enjoying exciting opportunities during lessons and playtime alike. From learning to ride bicycles and playing sports to engaging in creative activities, our playground is a space where children flourish socially and emotionally. Key aspects of the report include recognition of the: ⭐️ High-quality curriculum: Inspectors found that “the curriculum ensures that pupils learn in a logical order and routinely review what has been taught.” This approach enables pupils to “understand and remember much of what the school intends.” ⭐️ Support for personal growth: The inspectors commended the school for providing “a well-planned calendar of educational visits to places of local, national and international interest,” enriching pupils’ understanding of the curriculum. They also noted how “all pupils learn to play a musical instrument,” fostering creativity and talent. ⭐️ Positive school culture: Pupils were praised for their behaviour and attitude, with inspectors noting that they “thrive in the school’s positive ethos,” and that they “take pride in their achievements and celebrate the success of others.” ⭐️ Preparation for the future: The report highlights how pupils “learn about the diverse lifestyles and beliefs in modern society,” showing “interest in and respect for other cultures and worldviews.” Pupils leave Welland Academy well-prepared for their next steps, both academically and personally. City of Peterborough Academy is proud to place great value on the role of art in supporting emotional wellbeing. Through its collaboration with the Norfolk and Norwich Festival's Artist in Residence programme, the academy is participating in a project called 'Spaces and Places'. This three-year initiative connects schools across Norfolk, Norwich, Cambridge and Peterborough, inviting pupils to explore themes of local environment and community. Under the guidance of renowned sculptor, Kate Munro, pupils from the academy have embraced a creative journey, discovering the beauty of their surroundings - from urban wildlife near the school to the tranquil landscapes of Nene Park. The project's creative process and outcomes have been documented in a film including interviews with Kate Munro and the academy's art teacher, Paula Coggan. This film will be showcased at the Norfolk and Norwich Festival, celebrating the pupils' journey of creativity, connection, and emotional growth. As part of the Spaces and Places project, this work contributes to a growing collection of East Anglian stories told through the creative expressions of young people. City of Peterborough Academy is proud to participate in this project, which reflects its commitment to fostering creativity, emotional wellbeing, and a strong sense of community through the arts.

We are pleased to share that we have been awarded a grant from the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund, delivered by Salix on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. With it, we will develop and implement robust Heat Decarbonisation Plans across our estate, enhancing energy efficiency and significantly reducing carbon emissions. This funding is a vital step forward in our journey toward net zero and reflects our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability across our academies. It builds on a strong foundation of green initiatives at Greenwood Academies Trust, including solar panel installations, LED lighting upgrades and digital energy monitoring, which have already made a significant impact. Children in Need’s beloved Pudsey Bear took a seaside trip to Skegness, kicking off his visit with a very special stop at Beacon Primary Academy. The excitement was off the charts with Mrs Crow saying it was a "12 out of 10" as Pudsey patiently waited outside the hall to surprise the children during their celebration assembly. The moment Pudsey made his grand entrance, the children's reactions were unforgettable! 😄 To make it even more memorable, BBC Radio Lincolnshire was on-site, broadcasting the magical moment live for listeners across the region to enjoy. You can catch the joy yourself by tuning into Friday morning's broadcast at 3 hours and 18 minutes in on BBC Radio Lincolnshire here: https://lnkd.in/dAcZWdny
