This last full week of work before the Christmas break can be stressful as we all rush to meet deadlines. We coincide Christmas Jumper day with our Group Christmas Lunch which is always a winning combination for some festive fun. Have you heard of the PlanBEE Apprenticeship? The brainchild of Ryder Architecture & Gateshead College, PlanBEE (Built Environment Education) is a two-year apprenticeship with a difference, and we’re thrilled to be supporting it. ‘PlanBEE’ stands for ‘Plan for Built Environment Education’ and focuses on getting young people into employment (which has so far seen a 98% success rate!). Our first placement from the programme, Kat Akogba, spoke to us about her experience so far and her ambitions for the future. This afternoon, we welcomed SINGLE HOMELESS PROJECT(THE) (SHP) to our King’s Cross headquarters to host a ‘lunch & learn’ session. As one of our newest community partners, we were keen to hold an interactive and informative session to spread the word about our partnership internally. Attendees came from across the Group, including Group Managing Director, David Gratte. Sandwiches aside, the lunch included a talk from SHP on the homelessness crisis and advice on how we can help the homeless people we encounter to get them the right support in a safe and respectful manner. The homelessness crisis is particularly noticeable in the King’s Cross area, where our HQ is based. As an active corporate citizen, we are keen to give our support to our local community wherever we can. From financial donations to our time and expertise, we look forward to supporting SHP into 2025 and beyond. It’s Christmas Raffle time! This year, all proceeds of our Christmas Raffle will be going to charities SINGLE HOMELESS PROJECT(THE) and Friends of SADA (Survivors Against Domestic Abuse). It’s a privilege to support such worthy causes at what is always an especially difficult time of year for those living on the streets, and for families escaping domestic abuse. As usual, we’ve bought a ticket for every member of staff and are inviting them to buy as many additional tickets as they’d like. Each ticket bought means a donation to our two chosen charities (as well as boosting your chances of winning an incredible prize)! Speaking of prizes, we have a truly wonderful range of goodies this year, donated by Gratte Brothers and our supply chain. We’ve got an Apple Watch, an iPad, vouchers for Amazon, a golf day, and a hotel stay, plus an extra day of annual leave, premium hampers, and more! We're also providing the option of a ‘charity contribution voucher’ which winners can choose in place of their own prize; winners will select a charity of their choice for the company to donate to.
