Forget Vegas- what happens in Riyadh doesn’t stay in Riyadh… Golf brought me to the Saudi capital, and the discoveries beyond the fairways were a welcome surprise. Tap the below link to read about my whirlwind trip... Big thanks to aramco Team Series, Luke Lambourne, Jess Weatherall, Golf Saudi, Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Riyadh Golf Club for making this trip possible, but FYI, all opinions shared in this piece are entirely my own! #aramcoteamseries #womensgolf #saudisports #riyadh

I used to be rolling in from the club at 5 AM, grabbing a couple of hours’ sleep before work. Now, I’m up at 5 AM after a solid eight-hour slumber to… swim. Why had I not done this sooner? I could easily blame geography or weather. I could say that I’ve denied myself this simple pleasure because I live in the UK, where it’s bloody freezing for most of the year, or point out that stumbling upon a rock pool in inner-city London is not just laughably impractical—it’s impossible. Both are valid excuses, but they’re just that—excuses. The truth is harder to admit. It’s not about the climate or the lack of natural swimming spots. It’s my body. Or, more accurately, how I feel about my body. In this personal essay, a writer explores how swimming has unexpectedly become a source of freedom and a way to silence her inner critic. https://lnkd.in/gBb5htjC #wildswimming #swimming #womeninsport #documentingwomen

Golf: A traditional, boring game? Or the ultimate cool girl activity? An investigation into the game through the eyes of a 29-year-old fashion journalist, who’s traded cocktails for clubs (well, almost).
Or the ultimate cool girl activity? Golf: (as defined by the Oxford English Dictionary) “A game played on a large open-air course, in which a small hard ball is struck with a club into a series of small holes in the ground, the object being to use the fewest possible strokes to complete the course.” Golf, as defined by me, a 29-year-old fashion journalist: “An old-school, slow, traditional game that is extremely frustrating, involves an unfathomable amount of technique and patience, and is rooted in outdated gender perceptions where men rule supreme.” "It’s true. That’s exactly what I thought—or thought, I thought—if someone had asked me about golf at the beginning of 2024." An investigation into the game through the eyes of a 29-year-old journalist, who’s traded cocktails for clubs (well, almost). #womensgolf #girlswhogolf #womenssports #documentingwomen
