Devices markets are at an interesting intersection point. Following years of a strong push around 5G without much consumer interest, the technology and features which can make 5G relevant is being embraced by the largest vendors. Specifically, it relates to how the ecosystem of consumer devices will start to interconnect and work together through the capabilities that large foundational models (LLMs, LAMs, LVMs) can offer, being enabled by for example 5G Redcap and eSIM infrastructure. Many areas still bring uncertainty to what direction the development will take – including the balance between cloud and on-device powered AI, data privacy and security, and regulations. However, the determining driving force for the adoption rate of the coming personal device ecosystems is whether consumers are prepared for an interface shift, moving from type-based interfaces, towards connected interfaces using voice, gestures, and prompts combined with type. - Runar Bjorhovde, Analyst at Canalys For Runar's full video presentation, click comment box! #subscribe Global 5G Evolution #youtube channel 600 plus #5G and #5GAdvanced #usecases #presentation available here click https://lnkd.in/gnP__FMq

[COMST Survey] A Survey on Beyond 5G Network Slicing for Smart Cities Applications B5G is expected to tremendously improve network capabilities by utilizing a higher frequency band compared to 5G, capable of delivering higher network capacity with much lower latency. It is expected that there will be around 30 billion connected objects by 2030, approximately 3.5 times the population then, demonstrating significant demand for advanced network capabilities to support diverse smart cities applications, such as Digital Twins, Extended Reality, and Metaverse. Network slicing enables sharing of network resources by transforming the physical network into logically independent networks, each specifically tailored to meet the requirements of heterogeneous services, such as Internet of Things applications, gaming services, and holographic communication. Each slice comprises network, compute, and storage resources, forming an end-to-end logical network having radio access network, transport network, core network, and mobile edge networks. B5G network slicing is crucial for telecommunications, network infrastructure providers, cloud service providers, smart city planners, and technology developers, as it allows them to offer highly customized and efficient services, improve resource utilization, and enhance customer satisfaction, positioning them as leaders in the next-generation telecommunications market. Therefore, this paper provides a comprehensive survey on B5G network slicing use cases, synergies, real-world implementations, and applications based on their quality of service parameters for smart cities applications. The paper provides a detailed taxonomy of the B5G network slicing requirements, design, dynamic intra-slice and inter-slice resource allocation techniques, AI/ML-empowered network slicing designs, implementation testbeds, and 3GPP specifications for B5G network slicing. Additionally, this paper offers a thorough discussion on the technical challenges arising from B5G network slicing implementations in novel smart cities applications, and provides in-depth solutions. Software defined virtualized RAN has a lot of potential. In addition to the reduced development cost and flexibility, it also allows for using deep learning algorithms to perform signal processing functionalities such as channel estimation, equalization, etc, that can outperform classical methods. A new ecosystem is emerging in telecom in which vendors of processors and servers like intel, nvidia, dell, etc., are entering the telecom market under the umbrella of virtualization. This step started at the core network and is now in the RAN as well with a lot of potential in the future. 💟 Reach out to us to discuss growth opportunities in the telecom industry 💟 To gain monthly insights on #technology & #innovations, subscribe to #global5gevolution newsletter (https://lnkd.in/ge9gsyjE) & tune in for the latest edition on “5G Monetisation” 💟 Or subscribe to #global5gevolution YouTube channel (https://lnkd.in/g8M7YvKq) & tune in for the latest episode on “Cyber Space Robotic 5G”; click comment box 💟 Follow us on Kaneshwaran Govindasamy & Global 5G Evolution

Private 5G Vs Wi-Fi Private 5G and Wi-Fi are both wireless communication technologies, but they have distinct characteristics and use cases. Here's a comparison between private 5G and Wi-Fi in various aspects: 1. Technology and Standards: Private 5G: Private 5G refers to the deployment of a 5G network within a specific organization or location. It follows the 3GPP standards, which are the same standards used for public 5G networks. Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi, or IEEE 802.11, is a set of wireless networking standards defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). 2. Coverage and Range: Private 5G: Generally provides better coverage and range compared to Wi-Fi. In licensed spectrum bands, it offer more consistent and reliable connectivity over larger areas. Wi-Fi: Typically has a shorter range and is more suitable for localized connectivity within buildings or specific areas. 3. Bandwidth and Data Rates: Private 5G: Offers higher potential data rates compared to Wi-Fi, especially in the millimeter-wave spectrum. It can support extremely high-speed and low-latency applications. Wi-Fi: While Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E standards provide high data rates, they may not match the peak speeds offered by private 5G in certain scenarios. 4. Spectrum : Private 5G: Uses licensed, shared and unlicensed spectrum. Licensed/Shared spectrum provides dedicated frequencies and helps to reduce interference and enhance security. Wi-Fi: Operates in unlicensed spectrum, which is shared with other devices and networks. This may lead to more interference, especially in crowded environments. 5. Security: Private 5G: Generally considered more secure due to its use of licensed/shared spectrum, encryption, and authentication mechanisms. Private networks have more control over security configurations. Wi-Fi: Security relies on protocols like WPA3, but vulnerabilities can still exist. Wi-Fi networks are susceptible to various types of attacks, and security measures depend on the configuration of the network 6. Deployment Costs: Private 5G: Typically involves higher initial deployment costs, including licensing fees for spectrum and infrastructure setup. However, it may offer better long-term cost efficiency for large-scale deployments. Wi-Fi: Generally has lower upfront costs and is widely adopted, making it a cost-effective choice for smaller-scale deployments. 7. Mobility: Private 5G: Ideal for high speed mobile customers Wi-Fi: Commonly used for local area networks In summary, the choice between private 5G and Wi-Fi depends on the specific requirements of the use case, including factors like coverage, data rates, security, and deployment costs. Both technologies have their strengths and weaknesses, and organizations may choose to deploy them based on their needs and budget. **To learn about Private 5G in detail, visit - https://lnkd.in/efVwwqfD
