Supporting International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD) 🌍♿🎉 At FCDO Services, we’re dedicated to delivering and embedding accessibility and inclusivity in all our projects. Last year, we conducted an accessibility audit for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office at one of their historic embassies. They needed to ensure they were ready to host disabled visitors during a major international event. The goal was to help them quickly improve access, while also identifying long-term changes that could benefit everyone. Our experts audited the estate, and recommended ways to improve accessibility in the 17th Century building for both visitors and employees. Quick wins included: ✅ Installing handrails and tactile paving near external stairs ✅ Improving external lighting for safety ✅ Creating accessible parking spaces ✅ Enhancing paths to existing lifts Our recommendations for further work included: ️➡️Adapting bathrooms and bedrooms to meet UK Building standards for accessibility ➡️Exploring in-country regulations as well Despite ongoing efforts, more accessibility improvements are needed globally for long-term inclusivity. We're collaborating with the FCDO to enhance their estates accessibility, even in complex builds and refurbishments. This project highlights our commitment to making spaces accessible by design, ensuring that everyone can navigate and enjoy our facilities with ease. #FCDOServices #IDPWD #Inclusion #Accessibility #InclusiveDesign Image description: Close up of disabled woman in a wheelchair

This month, we’re looking back one year to the first government-led, Artificial Intelligence (AI) Safety Summit that was held at our sister site, Bletchley Park. The summit marked the start of the critical global conversation into the opportunities and risks posed by AI 💬 Our Translation and Interpreting team supported international conversations by providing interpreters across the two-day event, interpreting into six languages. Proudly playing their part in history. Find out more about how we supported this world first below ⬇️ #AISafetySummit #AISafety #TranslationAndInterpreting #FCDOServices #Languages Image description: An image of the Manor House at Bletchley Park with display boards showing the AI Safety Summit

It’s International Men’s Day! This year, we’re focusing on the importance of men talking about their health. 🩺 In particular, we’re raising awareness for prostate cancer because too many men get diagnosed by chance, too late. To encourage men to talk about their health and wellbeing with their friends and family, we’ll be exploring why men often stay quiet about their health. We’ll be sharing information on prostate cancer risks and the early signs and symptoms to look out for, as well as information about support available to those who are concerned about prostate problems. We believe that those who are brave enough to speak up about their health and wellbeing are #PositiveMaleRoleModels👍. So today, be a positive role model and ask the men in your life how they are. #InternationalMensDay #FCDOServices #ProstateCancerAwareness #PositiveMaleRoleModels #MensHealthMatters Image description: A group of colleagues talking.

Ever wondered how a passion can become a career? 🤔 This week we’re sharing the passions that inspired some of our colleagues to become engineers to mark Tomorrows Engineers Week. This year’s theme, #PowerUpYourPassion 💪, is all about showing how an exciting career in engineering can begin as a small childhood passion. Starting in school ✏️, our colleague shares how their love of engineering began with problem solving and maths ➗. This developed into an interest in encryption ⚙, one of the hardest and ever evolving problems to solve. Joining us as a Trainee Radio Technician, they learnt how to maintain and repair radio receivers 📻. Now, they are Head of our Asia-Pacific Region 🌏 leading a team of engineers providing support to embassies across the world. What passion started your career?
