Changing the way the world deals with death.

About us

We’re a multi-award-winning wills, probate and funerals company, with a mission to change the way the world deals with death. We create beautifully designed and easy to use products - with customers at the heart of everything we do. We’re a team of 65 people and since 2016 we’ve helped raise more than £800m in pledged legacy income for over 1,000 organisations. Our backgrounds are diverse; what brings us together is our passion for what we do. Based in a beautiful office by the canal in Haggerston (East London), we’re backed by some of Europe’s most exceptional investors - from the founders of Transferwise and Zoopla to Kindred Capital, Augmentum Fintech & Highland Europe. We’re changing the way the world deals with death by making it easy for people to plan ahead for their funerals or organise someone else’s. We want our customers to feel confident in making meaningful decisions. This is an unusual, fascinating, and emotional area to work in. So if you’re up for a big challenge, we’d love to meet you. Here are some of the things we’re most proud of since starting in 2016: - raised over £800 million in charity pledges - rated 4.9/5 on Trustpilot with over 14,000 reviews - formed major national partnerships with organisations across the charity, insurance, and mortgage industries such as Macmillan, Cancer Research UK and Samaritans. 🏆 And we’ve won a few awards too: - British Wills And Probate Awards, Will Writing Firm of the Year 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019 - British Wills And Probate Awards, Probate Provider of the Year 2021, 2020 - Good Funeral Awards, Low-Cost Funeral Provider of the Year 2022, 2021 and Funeral Information Provider of the Year 2021 - Start-Ups 100, 3rd Most Disruptive and Innovative UK Start-Up 2021 - Best Employer & Runner Up Best CEO, Fintech Awards 2020 -Client Care Initiative of the Year, Modern Law Awards 2020

Do you have aspirations to one day become a senior leader? The annual Leadership Accelerator programme may be for you. Delivered by Foot Anstey in partnership with the ILM, the programme is designed to help individuals unlock their potential as a future senior leader. Applications for the 2025 cohort will open in January, with full details to be released in the coming weeks. But why should you consider partaking in the programme? We asked recent participant Johanna Pinder-Wilson, Legacy Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, to tell us why she would recommend applying.   https://lnkd.in/gyD_2QTv #LegacyManagement #CareerProgression #LeadershipTraining

  • Sometimes, when you’re deep in the weeds of work, it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture. Which is why it’s so inspiring when partners like Parkinson's UK come in for a chat. 💛

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Chris & Kerry from Parkinson's UK to our office for an inspiring talk about the incredible work being done by Parkinson's UK and how legacy donations are helping fund essential research and support for those who are affected by Parkinson's disease. Today, over 150,000 people in the UK alone are living with Parkinson’s disease—a condition that profoundly affects not only their lives but also the lives of their families and friends. Here at Farewill, we are incredibly proud of our partnership with Parkinson's UK and the role we play in helping them pursue their mission to improve the lives of those affected by Parkinson's and, ultimately, to find a cure. Remarkably, a significant portion of the charity’s income comes from gifts supporters leave in their wills, which fuels their life-changing work. There are countless ways to make a meaningful impact, and by leaving a gift in your will, you can help drive vital research and support that will benefit future generations affected by Parkinson’s.

  • Fantastic day celebrating the 5th anniversary of Macmillan Cancer Support's Free Will Service💚 It was lovely to see old and new faces, and come together with other providers to mark this milestone. It's been incredible to see the growth and impact of the legacy programme in these past few years - supporting people with cancer for decades to come. Since 2017, we've been honoured to play a small part in this impressive journey and are looking forward to seeing our partnership continue growing in the next 5 years and beyond! Thank you Gemma Peters, Lesley Woodhead and team for hosting us in your office for a lovely day 🍰 #LegacyFundraising #Charity #GiftsinWills

Yesterday, we celebrated the 5th anniversary of our Free Will Service which offers people the chance to write their will for free. Having a will is a way of looking after the people and causes that you care about after you’ve died, and the Macmillan Free Will service allows people to organise this, even in urgent circumstances. We hosted colleagues and our will-writing partners to a celebratory event with our Chief Executive, Gemma Peters, and presented them with a certificate to thank them for their generous support of this service. “For our supporters and those who sadly may need an urgent will to put their affairs in order, this service means they are not waiting once they have decided to take action. In the last five years, over 25,000 people have written a will through his service and pledged to leave gifts which will enable Macmillan to carry on our vital work. These gifts are often given as thanks for the care given to the individual or a loved one.” While there is no obligation to leave a gift to Macmillan as part of this service, so far we have had an incredible £204 million in gift pledges, which will help fund our vital services and allow us to keep supporting people with cancer in the future.

  • “We don’t just want people to survive, we want them to live.” It was wonderful to hear from Sarah Newman (nee. Blake) and Chloe Fairbrother (she/her) last week, who joined us from Cancer Research UK (CRUK). As Kyla Vanbrook says, they talked about the incredible impact of legacy giving and explained some of the research programmes that gifts in wills are helping to fund (and have already funded!) As our team works on the other side of things – helping people to write their wills and leave those meaningful gifts - it’s always inspiring to hear these stories. There really is so much good you can do by leaving a gift in your will, whether it’s large or small you can help make a difference too. #CharityFundraising #LegacyGiving

Last Thursday, we had the lovely Sarah Newman (nee. Blake) visit our office to talk about the AMAZING things that Cancer Research UK (CRUK) does and how legacies are funding research not just in the UK, but around the world! The fabulous Chloe Fairbrother (she/her) also joined us, to help answer all the questions our team had about what legacies mean at CRUK! More than 1,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every day, and a diagnosis not only changes their lives but the lives of their loved ones, too. Sarah did a fantastic job explaining what Cancer Research UK (CRUK) is doing to help find new cures, make strides in prevention/early diagnosis and support the people who need it in their time of need. We are so proud of the work we've done to help Cancer Research UK (CRUK) in its mission to beat cancer. Over 1/3 of the charity’s income comes from gifts that supporters have left to CRUK in their wills. There are 100s of ways you can make a difference now and by living a gift in your will, you can make a world of difference for generations to come! 💜
