Over 150 people have pledged to create a pollinator-friendly garden as part of our #NatureNeighbours campaign 💚 Although you may not realise it, many vital pollinators will be searching for a hidey-hole or evergreen shelter to see them through until warmer days return. 🐝🦋 If you’re feeling inspired, transform your garden into a pollinator paradise 👉 https://lnkd.in/eq97GpuZ 📷 Nick Upton/2020VISION

We know that it can be hard to adjust to this time of year, but the changing seasons bring amazing wildlife spectacles with them - so it's not all gloomy. You just have to look at these stunning sunset photos captured by Steve Harper (@harper1973) in Leigh-on-Sea, to see what we mean. 📷 Brent geese like to fly in loose flocks and are usually chattering away, making their distinctive cronking calls. They visit us in the autumn, so make the most of nature's winter visitors and get outside. 🤗

Essex Wildlife Trust has been gifted Bottengoms, the 15th century country estate of renowned nature writer, Ronald Blythe. 🏡💚 Alongside a group of Blythe's close friends and advisors, the Trust is looking to develop this estate into a place for nature conservation and artistic inspiration. We're excited to announce that we have author Ian Collins joining us at Abberton Reservoir Nature Discovery Park on 19 December, for an evening of live readings, Q&A and book signing, following the launch of his biography 'Blythe Spirit: The Remarkable Life of Ronald Blythe'. 📚 For more on this story and to book tickets, visit 👉 https://loom.ly/G0gUCuA

Did you spot us on ITV News yesterday? 📽 Reporter Hannah Pettifer joined us at The Naze Nature Discovery Centre for our Marine Scientist event yesterday. The children had a great time and learned lots about our marine and coastal wildlife, plus found out more about the history of these finds. Watch from 01:53 👉 https://loom.ly/B6OeUOU Our engagement with children and families is a fundamental part of the Trust's work. As Hannah Nixon, from our Wilder Learning team, said on the news piece: "We want children to feel connected with nature so they will grow up caring about it". 💚 #outdoorlearning #nature #inspire #conservation

📢 Exciting news: Bell heather returns to Epping Forest after 50 years 🙌 Tiptree Heath nature reserve is the only place in Essex where bell heather grows - and the only place in the county that you can see all 3 types of heather in one place. Thanks to the careful management of this reserve, we have been able to help Epping Forest in a new trial to restore their historic populations of bell heather. 💚🌸 Our Director of Conservation, Jez Dagley, says: "I think the small, giving to the big - it's a nice touch.” We couldn't agree more and are delighted to be working with City of London Corporation on this project. Did you know that Fingringhoe Wick Nature Discovery Park in Colchester is Essex Wildlife Trust's first nature reserve? It's always great to be reminded of the diversity of wildlife that this reserve supports, like this osprey, spotted last week. 🦅 If you need a nature fix, this is one of our favourite reserves at this time of year. 💚 📷 Paul Everett #wildlifesighting #conservation #nature
