Dear Chancellor Rachel Reeves MP, with the Autumn Budget just days away, we’ve joined together with Turn2us and over 60 diverse organisations, urging you to use language that supports, rather than stigmatises when talking about social security. Words matter. They can build trust in a system meant to protect us all. Let's build a narrative rooted in compassion, not blame. #Budget2024 Read our open letter: https://lnkd.in/gKyUvbxy

I am so thrilled to announce that this years National #DoodleDay auction raised an incredible £24,107 for Epilepsy Action! 🤩🥳 We are so grateful to every single artist, illustrator and celebrity who took the time to create and donate an original artwork. The continued success of this campaign wouldn’t be possible without you all! Another huge thank you goes out to everybody who purchased a doodle this year! I hope that you love your new artworks, and would love to see any photos of them on display 💜. National Doodle Day will return in September 2025, with some exciting things already in the works for the 21st anniversary!

Our health improvement team were delighted to attend the The Royal College of Midwives (RCM) awards last week, although the team did not win, we are very proud to have been nominated and had such a lovely evening. We were shortlisted for our work making preconception and maternity care safer for people with epilepsy. Congratulation to the other nominees and winners.

Epilepsy Action has been selected as Peter Mark Hair's charity of the year. Peter Mark is an Irish hairdressing chain, and they run an annual ‘Petermarkathon’, choosing one charity to sponsor each year. The event has been running for the last 12 years and has raised over €800,000 for various charities in that time. There will be 5 salons in Northern Ireland taking part in the fundraising and raising awareness for Epilepsy Action. Each parlor will host different activities to raise money, including pyjama parties, fancy dress and raffles. Epilepsy affects 23,000 people in Northern Ireland - 1 in 83 people are diagnosed every day. To find out more about how you can get involved visit Petermarkathon 2025 - Epilepsy Action.

🔔 Exciting Announcement! 🔔 We are incredibly proud to share that three of our dedicated team members have completed their mental health awareness training – just in time for today, Mental Health Awareness Day. We now have three new mental health first aiders. A huge congratulations to Louise McCormick, Layla Robleh-Davies and Maxine Gulley for their hard work and commitment to ensuring mental health is a priority at Epilepsy Action. They will work alongside existing mental health first aiders Cathryn Hampshire and Leah Norton. Their new skills include the knowledge, awareness, and skills to spot signs of people experiencing poor mental health, being confident to start a conversation, and able to signpost a person to appropriate support. We are honoured to keep building a strong and supportive community. 💪 💜
