About us

The Engineering Professors’ Council (EPC) is the "voice" of engineering in UK higher education. Our primary purpose to provide a forum at which academic engineers in UK HEIs can exchange of ideas about engineering education, research and other matters of common interest and to come together to provide an influential voice and authoritative conduit through which engineering departments’ interests can be represented to key audiences such as funders, influencers, employers, professional bodies and Government. We provide a unique forum for, and network of, academics: all branches of engineering are represented within the membership: Aeronautical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Electronic, Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering, as well as Minerals, Metallurgy and Marine Engineering and the broad areas of General engineering studies and those in which engineering is combined with a range of other topics. In some universities, frequently those where computing forms part of an Engineering School or Faculty, professors of Computer Science are also members. There are currently 80 institutional members encompassing around 6,000 academic staff.

Updates

  • This year's Engineering Professors' Council Recruitment and Admissions Forum will be held on 15th November at Manchester Metropolitan University. Book your place here: http://ow.ly/j1xv30fiuIt We've listened to your feedback and prepared a packed and informative programme for all those working in recruitment and admissions to UK higher education engineering courses. For this edition, we are planning to make the event workshop-driven as this has proved successful in the past. We will be having two workshop sessions as follows: 1. Entry requirements 2. Under-represented groups We will also be presenting an update on the EPC White Paper about Degree Apprenticeships. As usual, we will be providing the results of our annual Engineering Enrolments Survey (which will be launched next week) so you can see how you’re doing compared with the rest of the sector. The official enrolment information for 2017/18 entry to UK universities will not be publicly available until early Spring 2018. The cost for the day is £99 per ticket for EPC members, and £125 for non members. An invoice with payment methods will be issued once your booking is confirmed.
