Thank you to Julie Cullen (Business Development Manager EN:Able Communities) & Julie Deeley (Director of Operations for EN:Able Futures) for hosting another successful EN:Connect Employment & Skills session with our fantastic guest speaker Richard Rigby - Head of UK Government Affairs at The King's Trust. The session provided an opportunity to hear about the new 'Get Britain Working' paper and some of the changes that this brings alongside the work that the Youth Employment Group do to ensure there is a quality employment, education or training pathway for all young people, particularly the most marginalised. We also explored the key findings of the Youth Voice Census Report 2024, the largest survey of young people in the UK and how we can address any concerns or opportunities young people may see. With the ongoing popularity of these free webinars, we will be arranging more opportunities to attend in 2025. #WeMakeItHappenTogether #apprenticeships #youthemployment #employmentskills #WeAimHigh

£140M Investment: A game-changer for Britain’s construction skills crisis. As part of the initiative “to get Britain building again”, the Labour government has just announced a £140 million investment to create 5,000 additional construction apprenticeships per year in England. The announcement lands at a critical moment for the built environment, as it continues to battle with a severe skills shortage. With plans to build 1.5 million homes and boost infrastructure over the next five years, an estimated 50,300 more workers are needed annually to meet the demand. Our chief executive Lee Parkinson MCIPS MIoD FRSA shared his thoughts on the announcement with Building Design & Construction - BDC today He said: “We welcome the Labour government’s ambitions and drive to advance the country’s housebuilding mission. At EN:Able Futures, we have been championing apprenticeships for more than ten years, and this new investment is a step forward in providing more young people with a foot on the career ladder. We know first-hand just how effective apprenticeships are for both the apprentice and employer and a skilled workforce will bring us back on track to meeting these wider ambitious targets. “However, central government must seek guidance from organisations with expertise in this field as they know how best to support the talent of tomorrow and ensure the government’s investment provides the missing link." https://lnkd.in/e2-mk7Ha #skillscrisis #loveconstruction #apprenticeships #ukconstruction EN:Procure EN:Able Build Limited EN:Able Communities

Thank you to everyone who joined the roundtable jointly hosted by our director of operations Emma Mottram with Rae Watson and Zoe Miller from the Housing Ombudsman this morning. Your honest and candid views about the challenges for contractors carrying out repairs and maintenance contracts plus the positives and best practices were very much appreciated. This is exactly the spirit of trust that the Housing Ombudsman aims to establish to address the challenges and issues effectively. Voices have been heard and views taken on board. This will feed into their ‘Repairing Trust’ report which is due to be issued at the end of March 2025. The Housing Ombudsman will join us again when the report is out for a special EN:Connect webinar to speak to contractors and members to discuss the findings and recommendations in more depth. More information on how to join the webinar will be available in the new year. This is exactly the kind of collaboration and market engagement we aim to deliver through our frameworks and adoption of FAC-1; another example of delivering some of the recommendations of Constructing the Gold Standard report. #RepairingTrust #repairsandmaintenance #ukhousing #construction #FAC-1 #frameworks #buildingcontractors #loveconstruction Efficiency North EN:Able Futures EN:Able Communities EN:Able Build Limited More information about the report here https://lnkd.in/ejFHN_Mw
