  • This may be an unfamiliar item to anyone who doesn't work in the Rail industry. Even if you don't work in Rail, these techniques can be applied to lifting other items. Is this how you would lift this item? In this series "Manual Handling in the Rail Industry" we show you how we apply our techniques to a real working environment, with awkward shaped, potentially heavy items. • You need to pick the right people to be First Aiders… Someone who is likely to panic or freeze isn't the best choice. You want someone who can cope in a crisis and is confident making decisions under pressure. You don't always know how people will respond, so it’s better to have more people trained than you think you will need. And you should have more than one First Aider on site at a time. If you have one First Aider and they need First Aid administered… who can help then? These are all things we can discuss to help you put a plan in place when booking training with us. Have you taken these things into consideration? #firstaid #firstaidatwork #training

  • No one is going to be asking you to move 2 tonnes as a one person move, however, it's a good example of how when you use correct technique, the heavy stuff becomes much easier. When lifting items, it's essential to stay within your capability and use correct manual handling techniques to prevent injury.  By knowing your limits and lifting safely, you protect yourself and ensure a healthier body.  Prioritising proper technique makes lifting safer, easier, and more efficient.  Remember, lifting right today means staying active tomorrow! • Our training includes much more than just lifting a cardboard box in a classroom. We train your employees in their environment, using the items and equipment they use in their day to day roles. So they can actually learn how to apply the techniques, and reduce the pressure on their body at work and at home too. Want to find out more about out Manual Handling training? • Carrying items down stairs. A straightforward task, with a simple solution. Some might debate this point, as it's one of those scenarios where individuals might suggest it’s unsafe and that you should grip something instead of leaning with your hip. At times, circumstances aren’t perfect; it’s all about identifying the most effective and practical solution to the issue at hand. If this approach to problem-solving resonates with you (instead of getting bogged down by red tape), feel free to reach out to us to explore training options or solutions. #healthandsafety #workplacetraining
