📣 𝗨𝗽 𝘁𝗼 £𝟮𝟲 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻: the annual value of non-financial reporting (NFR) to UK #investors 📈 It is assumed that the increased use of non-financial reporting (e.g. #CSRD, #ISSB and #TNFD) is valuable for #investment decisions: our study for the Department for Business and Trade is one of the first to quantify this value, finding: ✅ Investors are using NFR for #decisionmaking ✅ The benefits of NFR are valued between £11 and £26 billion per year to UK investors ✅ Improving assurance and comparability of information could increase this value further by £6.6 to £16 billion per year ✅ The costs of producing this information are a fraction of the benefit: just £140 - £230 million per year For a breakdown of this study, PLUS how you can comment in the consultation for ISO - International Organization for Standardization's new standard on #naturalcapitalaccounting (ISO 14054), and our festive message, read our latest newsletter at the link! https://lnkd.in/d4BeqXHc Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), CSRD Institute, International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), BSI, Little Blue Research #investment #reporting #disclosure #naturalcapital

Pleased to have contributed to this work, led by JNCC, in which we helped outline the economic evidence to support achieving Good Environmental Status (GES) in UK #marine environments Check out the full body of work below + our contribution (chapter 3.2) outlining the socio-economic outcomes of GES using non-market valuation:
Two JNCC-led Marine Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment Programme (mNCEA) Good Environmental Status (GES) project reports have been published recently: 🌊 “Natural Capital Approaches for Improving Marine Planning” explores how #NaturalCapital approaches can support marine policy decisions in a Marine Plan Area and a Marine Protected Area. Access the report at: https://lnkd.in/e9ENH7vk 🌊 The “UK Ecosystem Service Condition Assessment Framework”, explores the socioeconomic impacts of achieving GES in UK seas. By examining how marine ecosystem health affects society and the economy, we aim to help decision-makers adopt a whole systems approach to sustainable marine management. Discover the full insights at: https://lnkd.in/eviiP44m The mNCEA programme is paving the way for better marine decision-making by integrating natural capital approaches into policy and planning and ensuring a healthier #MarineEnvironment for future generations. #MarineConservation #MarineHealth #MarinePolicy #MarineProtectedAreas #TurningScienceIntoAction #ForNaturePeoplePlanet Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Natural England, Marine Management Organisation, Cefas, Environment Agency, British Geological Survey, Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML), eftec

We must stop seeing nature only as a risk and see it for what it is: an asset. Watch eftec CEO, Ece Ozdemiroglu, make the case for the natural capital approach. Thanks to CIWEM (The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management) and Content With Purpose for producing this excellent video series: The Ripple Effect.
When it comes to sustainable business practices, a shift in perspective is essential. "Even though we all acknowledge how our lives, our well-being, our businesses, our economy depend on nature when it comes to making specific decisions, we tend to forget that and just focus on the kind of risks that businesses might be facing." — Ece Ozdemiroglu, CEO of eftec. There is a common issue at hand: businesses, regulators, investors, and policymakers often view nature as an endless resource, assuming that its stewardship is someone else’s responsibility. Learn more about the natural capital approach, which treats the environment as a valuable asset on our new digital series created in collaboration with Content With Purpose, 'The Ripple Effect', at 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eEvHZBKK 🎤: Ece Ozdemiroglu Many thanks to WWT's London Wetland Centre for providing a stunning backdrop for the interviews. #ClimateAdaptation #NatureBasedSolutions #ClimateChangeAdaptationTechnologies #FloodAndCoastManagement #ClimateChangeResilient 🎥: Content With Purpose
