In Defra's Resource and Waste newsletter, released on 13 December, they provided detail on their decision to cancel plans for mandatory cup take back. Originally, the scheme aimed to ensure businesses over a certain size provided separate waste collection of single-use cups from consumers, such as fibre-based composite coffee cups, in turn ensuring they are sent directly for recycling. 💭 ♻️ Robbie S. shared his thoughts with The Grocer on the recent news that the four UK governments agreed to shelve plans for a mandatory coffee cup takeback scheme.🥤   Whilst not entirely unexpected, it highlights that the Labour government has opted to focus on 'bigger prizes' – Extended Producer Responsibility and Deposit Return Schemes.
