Find us on Bluesky! Join us, and thousands of other researchers and publishing industry professionals, in setting up an account on Bluesky as an alternative to Twitter. We've been there for about a year, but the past couple of months have seen the platform really take off, particularly with the integration between BSky and Altmetric, it looks like it will become a great place for discussing research, and even more organisations, institutions and individuals will head over. Get in early(ish) and get your profiles set up - use the Starter Pack pinned to the top of our profile to follow 100+ accounts of key EASE Council and community members to get going on the platform. https://lnkd.in/es_rb7nJ #SocialMedia #Twitter #Bluesky #TwitterExodus

New in EASE journal, European Science Editing, Bahar Mehmani and Mario Malički present a structured checklist of peer review questions to improve consistency and quality of referee reports. https://lnkd.in/eEWtgvY7 The checklist has been developed through implementation of structured peer review question bank, and interview sessions with editors, reviewers, and authors in Elsevier’s pilot study of journals in 2023. Combining findings from the analysis of the reviewers’ responses received through the trial review forms, and interviewees’ feedback, Mehmani & Malicki have revised the structured list of questions and present them in this paper in checklist form, to be adopted by journals to enhance their reviewing processes. Great meeting and review of recent and future activity from our Ukraine Chapter. Thank YOU to the fantastic leadership of this Chapter for making it such a success and a big part of the EASE community
🔹 Meeting of the Ukrainian Regional Chapter of EASE: Achievements and Prospects 🔹 📅 On December 3, 2024, the Ukrainian Regional Chapter of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) held a meeting dedicated to reviewing the year’s achievements and planning for 2025 👏 2024 was a remarkable year for our chapter, marked by numerous initiatives and collaborations: ☑️ Chapter meetings and discussions on the development of Ukrainian scientific journals and their state support; ☑️ Hosting a webinar on CRediT: The Contributor Role Taxonomy; ☑️ Participation in various events organized by EASE, COPE, PUBMET, and others. This year EASE Ukraine members proudly won the prestigious competition “Advanced Science in Ukraine”! 🤝 We also joined the SUPRR initiative (Support for the Resilience and Recovery of Ukrainian Publishing), collaborating with Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL) and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. This involved hosting discussions with publishers from the UK and the US on new open access business models. Members of EASE Ukraine provided translation and moderation support for Ukrainian-speaking participants. Additionally, we translated and presented the Recommendations on AI Use in Scientific Communication and invited members to contribute to translating the EASE Handbook for Authors of Research Articles. 📈 Today, our chapter boasts 53 active members! 🤝 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to our success. Your dedication is driving real change in scholarly publishing in Ukraine.

European Association of Science Editors (EASE) reposted this
I'm beyond thrilled to be joining my esteemed peers and CSE Manual co-contributors Leonard Jack, Jr., Audrey Daniel Lusher, and Kelly Newton as I moderate "The CSE Manual: Introducing and Exploring the 9th Edition" for the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) webinar series on Tuesday, December 10. For those of you who may have missed the CSE-sponsored webinar introducing the 9th Edition earlier this year, this will be another opportunity to learn a little bit about the manual as well as some of the more prominent and expansive updates that were made in this most recent revision. This event is free for Council of Science Editors (CSE) members! Members should consult the CSE email from November 25 (subject line: "Upcoming Events at CSE!") to obtain the free registration link. Non-CSE members can register here: https://lnkd.in/em9UKpmt I hope to see you there!

EASE member Jeremy Y. Ng , who will be speaking at the Autumn Symposium on Tuesday, has just published this article in The Lancet Digital Health to better understand medical researchers' attitudes and perceptions towards the use of AI chatbots in the scientific process. This international survey investigates the extent to which researchers are familiar with AI chatbots, their perceptions of the potential benefits and limitations of their use in scientific research, and the factors that might influence their adoption. A great prelude to Jeremy’s session at our Symposium next week. https://lnkd.in/d3KNCasr
