A planetary conservation initiative to change the world.

About us

Darwin200 is a planetary conservation initiative, which aims to change the world. It will create the next 200 pioneers of global science and conservation – Darwin200 Leaders – by giving them a life-changing experience, which will inspire and empower them to change their lives and give them the skills they need to help conserve the world of tomorrow. Following in the oceanic routes and footsteps of Charles Darwin, onboard a tall ship, the world’s most exciting classroom will sail the world’s oceans, conducting 5 research projects as well as visiting the same 50 ports that Charles Darwin made landfall onboard HMS Beagle to measure the impact of change and put forward solutions to conserve the planet. You can join us on this globally important mission. Visit https://darwin200.com/ to discover what your next meaningful project should be!

  • 🌊 Throwback to our Hobart Darwin Leaders! 🌊 We're delighted to highlight our Darwin Leader Hindara Dania from Indonesia. At just 20 years old, Hindara is already an inspiring force for ocean conservation. She's an accomplished diver and a champion for marine life, leading the Coral Catch Dive Initiative that empowers local women to take action in coral restoration. While coral reefs are vital to our oceans, Hindara spent last week focusing on something much larger: the humpback whale a marine creature the size of a bus! 🐋 Working with wonderful local conservation expert Dr Vanessa Pirotta, Hindara has been diving deep into documentary storytelling, sharing the importance of ocean preservation, and connecting with marine experts along the Humpback Highway to better understand these majestic creatures and how science can protect them. Huge thanks to Wild Ocean Tasmania for taking us out on this unforgettable experience! 🌊 #DARWIN200 #NextGenLeaders #WomenInScience #MarineConservation #OceanHeroes #HumpbackWhale #CoralRestoration #EmpowerWomen #OceanConservation #ClimateAction #Storytelling #Indonesia #Tasmania #Australia #Nature #WildlifeProtection #GirlsInScience #ClimateChangeAwareness #WomenEmpowerment #OceanLovers

  • Behind the Scenes of Hindara Dania’s DARWIN200 Leader Adventure in Hobart! From the moment Hindara landed, it’s been a whirlwind of unforgettable experiences! The day began with an epic whale-watching adventure on the stunning Tasman Sea, blessed by rare, perfect weather. Along the way, playful Common Dolphins raced alongside the boat, and curious Australian Fur Seals made their presence known. Just when we thought it couldn’t get better, there it was a breathtaking encounter with what could be the last migrating Humpback in Tasmanian waters, right at the starting point of the iconic Humpback Highway! 🌊 Truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment. Later, Hindara and DARWIN200 team joined the ABC Radio Breakfast Show and met the amazing Dr. Vanessa Pirotta, Australia’s renowned whale expert and STEM superstar. What an inspiring way to kick off the DARWIN200 leader week! Stay tuned as the adventure continues, bringing more Darwin Leader stories of exploration, conservation, and wonder from Tasmania. #DARWIN200 #Hobart #MarineLife #HumpbackHighway #Tasmania #STEMLeadership #OceanAdventure

  • 3,000 Trees for a Greener Tomorrow! We are thrilled to share the success of our tree-planting initiative on November 22, 2024! During our time in Sydney, alongside 25 enthusiastic local children, their teachers, and partners from the Great Eastern Ranges and K2W Link teams, we planted 3,000 native trees on visionary farmer Garry Kadwell’s property in Crookwell, NSW. These native trees including Eucalyptus, Acacia, and Leptospermum will form a vital wildlife corridor, reconnecting forest patches and providing essential food and shelter for species like the greater glider. This project restores 15 hectares of habitat, blending conservation with sustainable farming practices. A heartfelt thanks to MetLife, the Australian Cruise Group, and all who donated and participated in this inspiring day. Together, we’re creating a lasting impact on Australia’s ecosystems!
