BMJ Future Health conference day 2 today 🙌🏻 Yesterday was all about meeting new and interesting folk and sitting in on some great thought-provoking panel sessions. Some common themes throughout. Health equity; bias, access, health literacy. I particularly liked the comparison of digital health platforms to the early introduction of mobile banking. Of a concept that when it came about was met with a lot of scepticism but that now is very much just another way of everyday banking. Sure, sometimes you’ll want to go into a bank, cash a cheque, speak to an advisor. But for most of your day to day banking needs, you’ll jump onto your smartphone or laptop and use the digital tools available. Why shouldn’t it be like this with healthcare?! Sure, sometimes you’ll want to see a health professional f2f; get a physical examination. But for other everyday healthcare needs we should be able to rely on the digital tools available. We need to be looking at the bigger picture here. Digital healthcare is just another platform for making healthcare accessible. Thank you to all of the day 1 speakers and to Martha Lane Fox for a captivating closing keynote. Thank you Future Health at BMJ Group for organising such a great event. Attending these types of events only emphasises the work that we do at Curistica. It’s more important than ever before to make sure that the digital tools of today are providing real value to the end user and that they’re being built with safety and effectiveness in mind.
