There’s still time to input into this important survey by IPC 👇
It’s a (dis)honour just to be nominated 🥲 When it comes to normalisation of presenteeism, the entertainment industry, to its detriment, wins by a landslide. Injury in film, TV and theatre is commonplace and its impact is rarely isolated to the individual. Beyond the physical and mental health implications to the injured party, the knock-on effects on the (largely freelance) unit can be deeply damaging and cause productions to become overwhelmed by reactive expenditure. Among such effects, some key players: ⏰ Extended working hours ❤️🩹 Heightened stress and anxiety 💰 Financial insecurity IPC recently launched the Impact of Injury Survey #IOI24 in order to reflect the extent of this problem and to inform industry action on how best to tackle it. If you work in film, TV or theatre, this survey presents an opportunity to anonymously speak to your experience and help effect real change. Must close 29th November 2024. Please take 5 mins to respond. Take the survey: https://lnkd.in/eKx5U6Uk

Please do have a listen as our very own Jen Smith and Andrew Medlock speak to the Institute of Regulation about all things CIISA via their excellent podcast series. 👇
Over the years, we've all read too many distressing stories of powerful media moguls or film stars exploiting their positions of power to bully or abuse others. The sector has responded by creating a new regulator, the Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority. This month's half-hour podcast from the Institute of Regulation interviews its leaders, Jen Smith and Andrew Medlock, to understand how regulation and compliance with standards of behaviour can protect those working in the industry and help UK film, music, theatre and TV to remain world leaders. You can listen to the podcast here and on Spotify. https://lnkd.in/eyY3ZCy3

Denise says everything we wanted to say about this! Please do listen as our Chair and BBC’s Media Show discuss whether TV has a culture problem 👇
Head Training and Career Development, Screen Careers Australia and Co-Founder Media Mentors Australia.
I love the BBC's Media Show podcast. Can highly recommend it - particularly this week's episode talking about tackling crap behaviour in the workplace. It features Baroness Helena Kennedy, chair of a fledgling organisation Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority - CIISA for short. She's a feisty Scottish Lawyer who is renowned for giving voice to those who have none. https://lnkd.in/g8krwtRX I met Jen Smith - the interim CEO - when I was in London recently and they have a terrific business plan to become the independent place to go for complaints about workplace behaviour. https://lnkd.in/g5DwCTDz

Please do respond to this survey! 👇 CIISA is proud to be supporting the IPC in their latest Impact of Injury Survey, the results of which will be invaluable to understanding the underlying causes and issues that surround this area - and what can be done to minimise them. This will have a huge influence on what we can do to support the creative industries at both an individual and organisational level, so your say here will have wide reaching impact!
CALLING ALL FILM, TV & THEATRE PROFESSIONALS 📣🎬🎭 Dear friends and colleagues, I am thrilled to announce that **Impact of Injury Survey is back** to explore the human toll and economic impact that injury poses to film, television and theatrical productions. Last time we asked, 81% of performers said they have been injured at work. Our inaugural survey exposed high injury rates, poor mental health outcomes and a workplace culture where rest is tantamount with letting colleagues down. Recognising the domino effect that injury can instigate, IPC is now asking *everyone*, not only those on stage or in front of the camera, to take this survey and speak to how this issue impacts them. So why participate? Your experience and perspective are key to shaping the future of your industry. Sharing your story anonymously by taking this survey will support IPC’s work for cross-sector strategic reform towards safer production processes. Your anonymised experiences and opinions will also help inform the development of the Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority. Key details: ⏳ Duration: The survey will take approximately 5 minutes to complete. 🛑 Deadline: The survey must close 29th November 2024 🔒 Confidentiality: All responses to the survey are collected on an anonymous basis and any information that you provide will be treated as confidential. Responses to the survey will be used only for the purposes of this research and subsequent white paper publication. We never sell data to third parties. We greatly appreciate your time and contribution, and thank you in advance for helping us drive meaningful change. If you work in film, TV or theatre, please take 5 minutes to respond and help advocate for a safer industry!
