This year has shown us what’s possible when passionate people with a shared vision come together to make a difference. Together, we are creating a thriving future for Cornwall and its food and drink industry. 🌟 Thank you for being part of this journey. We can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve in 2025! 🌟 Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year. - Cornwall Gateway CIC #UKSPF #CIOSGOODGROWTH

Honouring Phil Ugalde: The Visionary Behind Cornwall Gateway CIC Over the coming weeks, we will celebrate the incredible individuals and businesses driving Cornwall Gateway CIC forward. But today, we honour the visionary who started it all—Phil Ugalde, a man whose passion and dedication have shaped Cornwall’s food industry for more than three decades. Phil’s journey began in 1988 with the founding of Proper Cornish, where he turned a family recipe into a Cornish institution, producing over 55,000 hand-crimped pasties daily. Beyond building thriving businesses like Proper Cornish and Furniss Biscuits, Phil has been a relentless advocate for Cornwall’s food and drink sector, mentoring countless local businesses to grow, innovate, and thrive. In 2011, Phil envisioned something transformative: an Agrifood and Drink Centre for Cornwall—where local producers could come together to scale their businesses, foster collaboration, and elevate Cornwall’s reputation on a national and global stage. Despite setbacks, Phil’s unwavering belief in Cornwall’s potential has kept this vision alive. Today, Phil serves as Chair of our Board, continuing to inspire and empower us with his knowledge and wisdom. His leadership is the heartbeat of Cornwall Gateway CIC, and without Phil, we would not be here today. His vision is the foundation of our mission to unlock the future of Cornish food and drink, creating opportunities for innovation, growth, and collaboration. Now, in 2024, we are more determined than ever to break ground on this transformative project in 2026. For over 13 years, Phil’s passion and belief in Cornwall’s food industry have driven us forward. His legacy is not just a story of the past—it’s a promise for the future. Cornwall Gateway is striving to make our project happen—for Phil, for Cornwall, and for the generations to come. #FoundingMember #Visionary #PhilUgalde #CornwallGateway #CornishFoodAndDrink #Legacy #AnchorProject #CommunityInterest #NotForProfit

📣Big news for the Cornwall Gateway project! We’ve submitted our Project Change Request (PCR) for an extension to our Good Growth Funding. This step is the crucial push we need to help get our exsisting 10 year project closer to the finish line, enabling us to secure government funding until April 2026. For those who don’t know, the Cornwall Gateway Agrifood and Drink Centre is designed to be a true hub of innovation. We’re talking about specialist kitchens, cutting edge shared facilities for local producers and training spaces to boost skills – all with the goal of supporting Cornwall’s food and drink sector, which contributes £2.6 billion to our economy and represents 20% of all jobs locally. This project will help scale food production, reduce food miles, cut carbon emissions and secure a more resilient food supply chain for our region. We’re hopeful that this PCR will give us the time and resources we need to finalise planning, attract investment and be ready to break ground in 2026. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us so far – this project has the potential to make a lasting impact on Cornwall’s economy and sustainability efforts. Now we wait, fingers crossed for a positive response. Onwards and upwards! #CornwallGateway #AgriFoodCentre #LocalInvestment #SustainableGrowth #CornwallEconomy
