A bit of a personal post from me today! 😊 Back in October I signed up to do a 200 mile sponsored cycle for Breast Cancer Now. It started off really well but then life threw multiple curve balls at me including losing my brother in law which massively knocked me. I also had another health scare (thank God it was fine in the end but soooo stressful). All in all , the last couple of months have been pretty rough. People had already sponsored me so I kept going with my cycle when I felt up to it. It took me so much longer than I anticipated but at the weekend I finally finished my 200 mile cycle and to date have raised £2124 in the process (the total has gone up since this photo was taken). I’m really proud of myself for not giving up. I’ve lost a lot this year but in the process gained a ton of resilience, so it’s not all bad. 😊 Thanks to everyone who has supported me this year, not just in the cycle but in general, legends! ❤️

65% use #AI in 2024, yet few gain over 10% EBIT. This shows that while AI adoption is widespread, its real impact on business performance varies significantly. I attended the "Beyond the Hype: Building a Real AI Advantage" event, part of the Leaders Lab series hosted by Corecom Consulting. The discussions reaffirmed one truth: there’s no silver bullet for delivering impactful AI solutions. Here are some thought-provoking takeaways from the panel with Erick Webbe, Nicole Onuta, Floris Hermsen and the cross-pollination workshop that followed: ↳ Business Need First, AI Second AI succeeds when it solves real problems. Start with the business goal, not the technology. ↳ Experimentation Is Key Fail fast, learn faster. Smaller experiments mean less business risk. Test ideas, embrace feedback, and iterate to find what works. ↳ Data Is the Foundation Clean, accessible data is critical. Without it, even the best algorithms can’t deliver. ↳ Human-AI Collaboration AI thrives when it complements human judgment. Balancing automation with oversight ensures trust and accountability. I loved the example of AI-human-AI workflows for research reviews at Elsevier. ↳ AI Is a Double-Edged Tool Like a knife, AI is powerful but can be harmful if misused. Misaligned applications risk damaging businesses or individuals. As AI accelerates change, thoughtful #softwaredelivery and strong leadership become the anchors for sustainable success.

"If AI is a knife, use it to spread butter!" 🧈🤖 – Erick Webbe, November 2024 😁 Last Thursday, Corecom Consulting hosted a sold out LeadersLab: Beyond the hype – Building a real AI advantage, in Amsterdam. Erick’s memorable analogy reminded us that AI itself isn’t something to be feared—it’s a tool. And although an extremely powerful tool, like any other, it can do great things in the right hands but cause harm if used irresponsibly. This set the stage for a great discussion about the Netherlands’ unique position: ranked number 1 globally for responsible AI use, yet only 25th for AI adoption! 😲. Are these rankings connected? Can safety and innovation coexist without compromise? 💡 Nicole Onuta explored this sweet-spot, sharing her belief that we don’t have to choose between innovation and ethics.
