banned, but I'm back! - reach (almost) anyone via cold outreach

Unpopular opinion: spray & pray cold email campaigns work. Sometimes. But let me explain. 👇🏻 One of my clients offers a solution for ecomm stores. Incredibly oversaturated industry. We tried various angles: - AI personalization - sharing case studies with solid numbers - using the upcoming Black Friday as a trigger - targeting companies using a competitive solution - reaching out to brands that installed complementary apps And got really good results. But nothing worked as well as simple, direct messages. → want <outcome>? → discover <value proposition> → CTA to give it a try with a live demo With a massive amount of spintax and sending volume. Result? We got 1 positive response from every 329 people reached. Outbound doesn't have a single fix. Often you have to try all the possibilities. And scale what works best. PS DM me if you want to grow your pipeline.

    CEO @lemlist & lempire

Let me share the secret to successful outbound - learned in 18 months at lemlist. It’s not copywriting. It’s not doing always more volume. It’s better leads. How do you do this? Step 1: Build Your Total Addressable Market (TAM) Start broad. Your goal here is to list companies that loosely match your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP). For example, at lemlist, our TAM could look like this: Companies with 50–500 employees. Located in Europe and the US. Selling B2B services or software You can use tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo, or lemlist to source this data. At this stage, don’t over-filter—cast a wide net. Step 2: Score Your TAM Not all companies in your TAM are equal. The next step is to rank your prospects based on potential fit, creating a prioritization system. For instance, you could assign scores out of 100 and group them into buckets: Tier 1: 75+ points (high priority) Tier 2: 50–75 points Tier 3: Below 50 Requires Data + intelligence. Examples from lemlist: - Number of SDRs or sales team size - Recent growth in SDR headcount - CRM usage (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive) - Intent signals: e.g., website visits or past downloads Where can you find this data? It depends. But most sales databases or your own marketing tools are a great starting point. Step 3: Source Contacts & Details Once you’ve prioritized your TAM, find the right people to reach out to. But here’s the catch—this step depends on your budget. For example: - For Tier 1 accounts, we source 3 sales leadership profiles (e.g., Head of Sales, VP Sales). - For Tier 2 accounts, we limit it to 2 contacts. Next, you’ll need to gather accurate contact details—this could include emails, phone numbers, or both, depending on your outreach strategy. To do this, you can either purchase credits from a data provider or use a “waterfall enrichment" combining multiple providers for higher find rate. At lemlist, we’ve built one that's free to use, don't hesitate to try it out. Step 4: Personalize Engagement The goal here is to avoid generic pitches but tailor your outreach based on insights about each company. You can use information from scoring or find more specific information. For example, Alan uses AI to crawl public websites for HR communications from target accounts. Their sales team gets AI-summarized insights to craft personalized outreach messages. Key Takeaway Outreach isn’t just about volume—it’s about quality. This process takes time, creativity, and skills. And while AI can help, it’s not yet at a level where it can handle all this complexity. The underlying data isn’t easily accessible—and the type of data you need varies significantly from one industry to another, from one company to another. This is why Growth Agencies like Scalability and ColdIQ thrive Useful? Don't hesitate to like/comment 👇 Have something to add? Would love to hear from you 🙏

    Founder / CEO @ ColdIQ | Scale Outbound with AI & Tech 👉 coldiq.com

I'm turning 30 today. I launched & failed 7+ businesses. Earned 5-figure per month while travelling the world at 23, then lost it all, and finally went on to grow my agency to > $3M/year. Here are the top 9 things I wish I knew when I started: 1️⃣ Failure is part of a greater story. Very few make it work on their first attempt. Even great entrepreneurs suffer. Steve Jobs was fired from his own company. Elon Musk's Space X's first 3 rocket launches failed and got him near bankruptcy. 2️⃣ You win, or you learn. Every failure brings you closer to success... as long as you take something away from your experience. I failed at a lottery business but learned Facebook Ads in the process. I failed a Facebook Ads agency but learned Cold Outreach. I now run a $3M/year outbound company. 3️⃣ You're dumb until you're a genius. For every failed entrepreneurial venture, a smartass will tell you, "It was obvious it wouldn't work". Your peers are getting promoted, and you're spending months working WHILE losing money. (Why do that?) When it works, you're a genius suddenly. You know you're the same... but perception has shifted. 4️⃣ Impostor syndrome never goes away. After publishing 200+ content pieces & growing to 25,000+ followers... I still wonder why people even take an interest in what I say. Feeling uncomfortable and continuing is the best sign you're growing. 5️⃣ The people you surround yourself with are everything. This is true of your loved ones and your team. Regarding the latter, you'll spend a lot of time with them. Hiring makes or breaks your company; be intentional about teaming up with people who share your values. 6️⃣ Building your brand is ONE of the greatest opportunities of our time. Whether you own a business or are an employee. Somewhere in the world, someone is willing to pay 2X what you're getting for your skillset. But they don't know you exist, and you don't know they do. More people knowing you improves your luck exposure. 7️⃣ The more you give, the more you get. Our content strategy revolves around giving away our playbooks for free. This results in > 100 meetings per month. Our best cold email campaigns offered something our prospects genuinely wanted. The people in our team who got promoted the fastest were doing things we never required from them. Dan worked for free. Fivos took sales calls on top of handling his client work. They both now lead our organization. 8️⃣ You're in it for the long run... so have fun. The ones who stick the longest are the ones that win. It's not about being better. It's about doing more & better for longer. The easiest way to do that is to work on something you enjoy. 9️⃣ You're one action away from changing your life. Send that cold message. Hit the publish button. Approach a stranger. You never know what can come out of it. If you're wondering 'what if', it is your sign. P.S: As I start a new decade, what's the most important lesson you've learned in your 30s? 👇

Your tech stack should reflect where you generate demand. And how you convert that demand. These are the main B2B acquisition channels we’re thinking about: - E-mail outbound - LinkedIn content - Social media - Paid ads - SEO traffic - Newsletter - Live events - Social media - Communities - Partnerships - Affiliate systems And these are these are the main conversion mechanisms we’re looking at: - Demos - 1:1 emails - Warm calls - LinkedIn social selling - WhatsApp - Opt-in marketing sequences - Automated inbound-led outbound - Ad retargeting - And of course, content. But not every business is going to do every single one of these things. In fact, many successful businesses just focus on just a few. Which means, your tech stack should be built around your strongest channels. And consolidate data across marketing, sales, product, and CS. So you can build effective reports. From evaluating over 1000+ sales tools, here are some GTM archetype tech stacks: 1️⃣ Email Maxis - Prospecting database: Apollo.io - Scraping: Apify - Data Enrichment: LeadMagic - Workflow Builder: Clay - Sales Engagement: Instantly.ai - Newsletter: beehiiv 2️⃣ Outbound Dialers - Prospecting Database: Sales Nav - Data Enrichment: FullEnrich - Prospect Research: Clay - Automated Dialer: Nooks - Demand Conversion: Chili Piper - Revenue Intelligence: Gong 3️⃣ SEO Hackers - Topic research: Semrush - AI Articles: Byword - Programmatic SEO: Clay - Website Tracking: Hotjar | by Contentsquare - Content Optimization: Surfer - Visitor identification: RB2B 4️⃣ LinkedIn Social Sellers - Audience Builder: Sales Nav - LinkedIn Signals: Common Room - Content Management: Taplio - CRM: Breakcold - Profile Visits: Teamfluence™ - Outreach Automation: lemlist 5️⃣ Media Buyer - ABM: Clay - Inbound Routing: Default - AI Attribution: Hyros - LinkedIn Ads Tracking: Fibbler - Reporting: Supermetrics - Automation: Zapier 6️⃣ Community-Led - Partnerships Outreach: HeyReach - Affiliate Tracking: Rewardful - Influencer Marketing: Favikon - Community: Slack - Newsletter: Kit (formerly ConvertKit) - Social Signals: Common Room Which avatar fits for you? 👇

Building your traditional GTM org is dead. If in 2025 you haven’t figured out a way to maximize revenue per rep, you’ve got something wrong.
