About us
Codethink specialises in system-level software infrastructure to support advanced technical applications, working across a range of industries including finance, automotive, telecoms, agriculture and heavy machinery. Typically we get involved in software architecture, design, development, integration, debugging and improvement on the deep scary plumbing code that makes most folks run away screaming. We aim to be great at software design and development, and to improve the practice of software engineering as a real engineering discipline. We have learned that we can only achieve this by sharing what we know, and absorbing what others can teach us.

🔐 Introducing SentinelBoot: a research implementation of a safe and secure bootloader for RISC-V. SentinelBoot was developed in Rust as part of Lawrence Hunter's final-year project at The University of Manchester. The project also explores Rust's growing role in secure system software and its ability to adopt newer technologies such as RISC-V. You can read about Lawrence's project here: https://lnkd.in/esFzu34E #riscv #rust #continuousintegration #qemu #vectorcryptography

Some lovely words from Jonathan about our very own Gavin McCall!
Thrilled to be at the exida Symposium with Gavin McCall! It’s incredible to think that 25 years ago, he started the very first version of MISRA-C for Rover and Ford, and has previously served as chairman of the working group for many years. Gavin, it’s a pleasure having you here. Thank you for your dedication and concrete contributions to improving the implementation of safety! Let's take a moment to appreciate their pioneering work in establishing MISRA-C and the countless contributors who have helped us use C more safely. Be sure to check out insights from from the people who started the journey Gavin, Les Hatton, and the late Olwen Morgan here: https://lnkd.in/eCDQ4aCN

In 2023, Codethink added support for RISC-V's vector cryptography extension (crypto) to QEMU. These upgrades enhance cryptographic performance for operations like AES and SHA-2. Read our blog post to discover how we tackled decoding, testing, and upstreaming this additional feature: https://lnkd.in/ebYQNZV9 #RISCV #QEMU #opensource #cryptography
